Interesting journey to Cumbria yesterday with full snow cover here (which has hardly melted on return today) and within 10 miles distance west side of Bradford / saltaire absolutely none.
Just shows how localised boxing nite was!
-
Off to bed I'm afraid but great to be back thread watching, curtain twitching and the White stuff falling as I do.
Long may it continue!!!!!

Morning all.
Not been on for a while..
Think we may see a rain to snow event later. Travelling back to Cumbria tomorrow early on. Could be interesting..?
-
Cul-de-Sac has thin cover of snow and plenty of sheet ice already. Just moved the car just in case for tomorrow. Will have a look at radar in a moment but saw a decent shower before but was towards north leeds way as backed up by arnott
-
Was heavy in Leeds city centre before. Back in Pudsey now. 1st lamppost watching nite of the winter. Better get the beers in !

Nice, I saw some lightning mainly towards north leeds but only flashes. Prefer those big forks and loud booms, hopefully see some tonight
Agreed.
Yeh that T-Storm was to the NNW west of me so places around Guiseley / Menston maybe must have got hammered..

Hi Jed,
There was some cracking lightning here last nite around 9 pm ish. Torrential rain too.

Great pic cheese. Was following that beast from here.
Some great CG's came out of that. One that rocked our house....
-
Rumbling and distant thunder from around 6.45 - 7.15 am then bang.. Huge flashes of lightning, instant thunder.
Great start to today. Plenty of potential with some afternoon heating later too.
PS After my moan yesterday got up to a high of 24.4C in the sunshine.
-
Distinctly cool here and light drizzle.
certainly can't see 24c here and heavy storms breaking out...
-
Very very windy here last night with significant gusts caused some localised damage.
No records but perhaps looking at > 65 mph as predicted by MetO.
Anyone got any recordings from last nite?
-
Very light snow shower before but sun out now thankfully.
Temp 2.3c. Very very slow thaw taking place in bare bits rather than depth.
Looking forward to a sunny Easter weekend and drift photo trip tomorrow instead of today.

Yes it has been a frustrating last few weeks for those in eastern areas. That's one way to look at it or you could think it could be worse, mild windy and wet is my pet hate weather so a few flurrys giving me temporary coverings and a bitter wind has at least kept me interested. It really has felt like a long winter, from seeing my first snow at the end of October last year to it snowing currently now. That's over 5 months of on and off snow. Time to crack open a beer and celebrate what for me has been a great action packed winter. Cheers!
Thoroughly agree.
We must be looking at 40 - 50 days of falling snow and 40 days ish of lying snow. In my books decent winter!
PS Decent snow shower outside again now. As HC said colder overnight temps will promote temporary cover till morning.
Off to hills tomorrow armed with camera. Got 4 ft drifts here so looking forward to some belters
-
Heavy snow showers here since I woke up at 7 am. ; heaviest at present.
Looking at the radar wow.!
Covered any patches that had been shoveled away and the road even. Looks like this could continue for some time..
-
I went up to greenhow hill on saturday just after all the snow lol, but wouldn't have got near the top without the 4x4!
Your right there are some excellent drifts up there and with the wind we've had over the last few days they will probably be even better now Get your self up there is this really has been an extremley rare event and might be a while before we have such awesome scenes right on our door step again.
Will do mate. Remember taking teh missus and kids up there years ago saying the same. I'll try and persuade them on Friday. We really are getting spoilt the past few years..!
-
Heaviest snow shower of the day here. Nice to see as when Leeds city disappears out of view I know it's decent
-
Contiuous stream of light / moderate snow and hail showers here and a bitter wind.
Just been running by the Bankhouse Pub / Fulneck area in Pudsey near me and there are 6 ft drifts down there on the road by the fields. Took pics with phone so will upload later.
Really tempted to go over the moors above Otley later towards Swinsty. There must be drifts 15 ft up there!
-
Minimal thaw here. Only in direct sunlight which has now disappeared to give the lightest of snow showers.
Temp 1.2c. Bitter, gusty east wind.
-
More showers coming in to the Durham area now and popping up on the radar..

It seems the meto maps haven't come to fruition.
They'll arrive at around 1am going by the current radar.
Cheese Rice. Your horse has eaten 30m of your elevation

You be careful repairing that aerial, and dont take any cuddly toys on the roof with you, look what happened to Rod Hull
LOL
Worry not matey. That's what Engineers and Churchil Insurance is for!.
Yeh poor Rod Hull. There's also the Alan Partridge funeral episode too with his boss who falls of the roof mending an aerial....Quality...
