  3. when checking through my videos from last year i noticed this one it looks to have a fair go at producing tornados several times

took about 10 trys to get it uploaded to youtube it was 2.29g 1080p/50 HD mts file each download took over 10 hours most failing about the 75 to 95% mark

    at last hooray

  4. Theres a nice storm west of Dallas/Ft Worth, but im still holding on at Harrisburg, Arkansas.

GPSpete what Nexrad 3 server are you using with GrLevel3?? and ive noticed Grlevelxstuff and Stormlabstuff are down?

GRLevelxstuff blocks a lot off ip addresses it doesn,t work via my 3 usb dongle but is ok from home on my talk talk connection i think that Stormlabstuff is probably the same.

found that info out on GRLevelx owners forum you can contact the GRLevelxstuff website owner via that forum and get him to allow you ip address if needed i think he only needs the first part of it to allow it..

GPSpete what Nexrad 3 server are you using with GrLevel3?? and ive noticed Grlevelxstuff and Stormlabstuff are down?

using the standard NWS server if http not working too well they have a ftp sever as well its on the latest GRLevel3 download,

just been summonsed to go out bye her who shall be obayed :air_kiss: still might sneak a look later

just a quick look on live cams Andy Gabrielson look to be heading east from Fort Smith towards Little Rock good to see a successful chaser heading in the direction that i had on my list of possibles,

    http://www.severestudios.com/cgi-bin/player.pl?username=andy.gabrielson&uid=140

  6. I think i'd start the day at Fort Smith half way between Oklahoma City and Little Rock looked at the map plenty of road options would hope to drive west towards Oklahoma to stay out of the trees to the south in the Quachita Forest and north the Ozark Forest mind there are plenty of trees east of Little Rock also looking at google earth looks a bit better further east so perhaps some option there a long drive to Memphis then north perhaps, also might even drive North and catch Jo in Tulsa and then drive north east to probable storms must keep a check on GRLevel3 and NWS to fine tune position hope fully i will be able to stay up late watching how it develops.

  7. not quite weather but it is partly weather dependant hi/lo pressure and wind direction are all factors that make the Bore work better some days.

here are my video's taken on sunday morning 20th may 2011 bit like storm chasing film a bit get in the car race up the road in a convey of bore chasers and surfers to get back in front of the wave

  8. me i need some Anvil Crawler lightning after missing loads by setting camera up checking looking at right part of sky etc left camera on lightning trigger taking photos noticed some dust on lens cleaned it off then PUT THE LENS CAP ON for some strange reason i haven't worked out what i think probably gob smacked by the Anvil Crawlers as that was on of my main hit list of things to see or do in life, then let camera take numerous photos of the lens cap,

also another storm like the twisted LP supercell we saw on tour 2 last year we drove up to it i have seen some photos of it taken a bit further away than we were incredible i will find the website and link again someday, all i can say is last year was a crash course in weather photography i got plenty of good pics & video footage but this year i will do even better weather permitting,

so newbies try to practice with your camera/video before you go try some low light pics of clouds etc. to get a feel of things as 90% of my photography was motorsport the other 10% snow an family holiday pics nothing like weather photos which quite often have a lower contrast than other things you may be photographing and you need to bring the best out in it you can psuedo HDR or photoshop your pics to enhance the contrast but the better the original the more you can do with it, but don't let the photography overtake what your looking at as you may miss something, so the the more you know about your photo equipment and what your doing with the easier it will be & you will hopefully see more.

my video camera was brand new and only arrived a couple of days before leaving for tour so had to learn as i went as it done a lot more than my previous camcorders and didn't do quite what i expected at times when trying different settings.

The only other thing i can add is bang your shoes down on the heel & LOOK in the cup of the heel in the morning when putting em on you never know what might be hidding inside your shoes, spiders& scorpions etc. i used to do it when i was a kid living in Australia so i just naturally started doing it knowing there are such bugs about LOL.

  9. At the moment people are favouring the Cannon XL H1 but your talking serious money for TX quality stuff. Got a few contacts to ask anyways but I do thing the Panasonic looks great.

The thing is whatever I buy this year looks to be wiped the floor within the next year - much like my Sony Cybershot DSC-HX1

    J x

the Canon XL H1 checked out the specs in 2005 it was top of the range yes it has 1080i but it is not 1080p I suspect the latest crop of consumer level top of range models with 3cmos would outperform this cam now but probable not on build quality.

technology is racing on in the video world i don't think there has ever been such large steps up in the consumer market ever and i started out using my Dads Standard8 cine film (and we thought Super8 was amazing when we stepped up to that) in the mid sixties to tape to digital tape to HD digital know  where next 2160p in 6 months time

  10. some nice video from last year cam Panasonic HD sd700

shows how good a camcorder it is even on youtube

compared to some old cinefilm super 8

i know the santapod video is off topic just put it on for comparison and yes i still have the camera

  11. Loving your plan.

I didn't even have to sell the camcorder idea to the other half. As soon as I said I'd been researching them (literally thats all I said!) and he said "good as we'll need one for the holiday/wedding in florida, your sisters wedding, yours stormchasing and for when we get a puppy anyway." :D

Guess I'll be needing to get one anyway so...

a very popular wide angle zoom with stormchasers is the http://www.sigma-ima...s/10-20mmEX.htm gives nice wide pics of storms works nicely on canon 450d a bit cheaper than camera branded lenses for zooming in i have a canon http://www.canon.co....0mm_f_4-5_6_IS/ not a bad spec lens. according to some reviews not the best others say good, works ok for me but the wide angle sigma is my no.1 lens normaly on camera

if i was buying today i would be tempted by the canon 550d for the video capability 1080p quality add a decent mike to it for stereo sound for a compact perhaps the http://www.casio.com...Speed/EX-ZR100/ in this country in March even does slowmotion and HDR

  12. last year I purchased a Kodak zi8 http://shop.kodak.co.uk/store/ekconseu/en_GB/pd/Zi8_Pocket_Video_Camera/productID.147430700 after seeing it recomended on Stormtrack forum I was amazed at the quality of the footage at 1080p setting it beat my 3 year old sony handycam that cost £375 hands down the sony ONLY recorded in dvd quality so much so that i had to go and buy a panasonic hdr sd700 for anyone on a tight budget I would recomend the kodak zi8 see my film of the severn bore taken on it bit shakey due to crowd knocking in to me and wind despite it being on a tripod

the panasonic is somthing else again still learning all its capabilities, the Kodak zi8 can be purchased for around £70 now but don't forget you need a memory card or 2 16g to 32g same goes for the panasonic sd models probably 32g cards don't forget you need class 6 high speed or better for 1080p recording

bye the way for those who don't know i have been known to ride the Severn Bore myself  although will probably stick to filming it as its a bit dangerous unless your super fit :cray:
