the guy holding up the power cables is doing the most dangerous thing i could imagine, I don't know if its the same in the US but here in UK the power companys will try to reset the circuit breakers remotely if they can to see if they hold in if they do not know what the damage is as you will probably have noticed when we have a power outage the power comes on for a second or 2 a couple times before the power stays off or on. I can envisage an engineer trying to reset the power breakers if they do not know what the cause is as a tornado is a very local event and somebody several miles away may not know what has happened so always assume the cables are LIVE or may become live so please no one even think of lifting what may be live power lines

  2. Just had a bit of luck AA changed my flight time on the 21st May from 12.45 to 12.05 :nonono: (even worse for getting back to airport) and the email asked to phone them if not suitable so phoned em and got it changed 14.30 much better that flight didnt even exist when i booked

Hi Pat first tornado of the year in US was on the 1st day if i remember about 10:30am there have been a few more including one in S. Florida a couple of days back the 2nd largest tornado outbrake of last year is now thought to have been on the last day of the year slightly wrong time of year but there was quite a few chasers streaming live from the storms. Bye the way i will be arriving in DFW the day before tour 2 at about 18.15 flying out from Heathrow via Houston with Continental

  4. not long now Pete....

Are you more prepared this time around?

I am always prepared !!! cameras are ready to roll last year was a learning excersise

i also have a 12.45 flight to Housten never mind i think i paid an extra 11 pounds on that flight to change it let me off first $70 but problem would be the flight back from Housten with a differant airline mind thats not till 18.05 so there would be some scope to fly to Housten from another airport still we will see on the day, mind the airlines themselves may change the flight times they have done it to me in the past

  5. belated merry christmas too all as i type this there are several tornado warned storms in us late/early stormchasers active sadly deaths already reported.

  6. That is interesting Pete. Thanks for sharing it. Tom
noticed they have updated recently "OKLAHOMAS SECOND LARGEST TORNADO OUTBREAK" to think we was right in it !!!!

copy from NWS website:The National Weather Service in Norman is in the process of compiling information on the tornado outbreak that occurred across central Oklahoma on May 10th. Here are some things that we know, and some important things to remember:

    • A total of 35 tornadoes have been docuemented in the NWS Norman County Warning Area, and additional tornadoes occurred in eastern Oklahoma in the NWS Tulsa County Warning Area. This will be the second largest tornado outbreak documented in Oklahoma (the largest outbreak occurring on May 3, 1999.)
    • Analysis continues which may modify some of the information or paths of the tornadoes.
    • Thirteen different storms produced tornadoes.
    • The tornado damage paths are spread over a north-south area of over 200 miles from near the Kansas-Oklahoma border to near the Red River.
    • Very large hail was reported in several locations, up to the size of softballs (4.25").
