Maximum Temperatures for Thursday are 15-17 in N Ireland and Scotland, 23-28 over England and Wales.

Into tomorrow evening, the rain band will push into Wales, S England and the Midlands and into N England, as the cold front hits the very warm air which has effect Southern England and Wales over the last couple of days, some of the rain could turn very heavy and thundery, and large rain totals are possible tomorrow evening and early parts of the night in Wales, and early Friday morning in the Midlands and NE England. The BBC South East forecast this lunchtime had Peter Cockroft up on the roof in a black cagoule with it absolutely p---ing down around him. Did anyone else who saw this think how bloody ridiculous it looked? It seems to be an obsession the Beeb have with putting their forecasters on rooftops, so much so they even make the poor sod stand outside getting soaked.

I must say, today's forecast was quite a good one. Dan Corbett did a nice job showing the approaching storm on the Atlantic pressure charts and explained quite nicely how tighter isobars mean higher winds. Its refreshing to see charts like this again and have them explained for Joe Bloggs who doesnt know much about the weather.
