A whopping 7C here - no wind. Heavy rain. Dew point of 4C.

Ooh - I'd put money on wintry ppn above 500m.

And the forecaster said 'dry'.

Now calmed down to a force 7. More importantly, no reports of any injuries or damage. The vessel that I reported earlier in difficulties with no engines 9 miles SE of Sumburgh has nowmanaged to restart her engines and is being escorted by the Coastguard Emergency Towing Vessel, "Anglian Earl", into the port of Sullom Voe. Just as well really seeing as she's carrying about 8000 tonnes of aviation spirit!

Much chillier though. Mid-day temp only 8.5C with a wind chill of just 5C. Completely overcast but dry meantime.

This mornings rain continued until about 3pm and after a brief respite started again and is currently quite heavy,temperature 6.7c,humidity 98%,calm,barometer 1002 mb and rising slowly.

Coldest day of the autmn so far here, with a high of only 9c. Had a bit of rain this morning and then it was cloudy and cool for the whole day. Skies only cleared about an hour ago and now the suns practically down :)
