Ah, Jeezus H. Not again. :)

:)

There's so much loose stuff from last weeks storm lying about, that this one will surely remove the awkward lying slates, weak fences, trees that took a pasting etc. Was wild up here last week - this looks like a carbon copy.

We've got nothing left to remove or bring down, still waiting repairs from last week, might just start a bomb shelter in the back garden!!! :)

Surprisingly no mention of wind at all on the forecast. Surprised very much.

Yes all the attention seems to be on the rain. I wonder if this will upstage the rain. Nothing on Met office website nothing on the Beeb the only place for warnings Net weather.

Winds here increasing after a lull at about 4.00am. Average winds 49.5mph with regular gusts over 50mph.

WM - I am in your 30mph area. It only went below 30 for a 3 hour period during the night

OOPS apologies I got the average wind speed figures the wrong way round!! :D It should read 45.9mph. It was too late to edit when I realised my mistake.

It is certainly looking pretty tasty. Not sure if it will be as bad as last week's storm, but then last week's storm wasn't as bad as forecast, maybe this will be worse than forecast, who knows? Anyway, it is certainly going to be a windy night! :D

Hello mate.

I disagree with you ( :D ) - i thought last weeks was very bad - maybe it was worse here than yours, but it sure did make a mess of things all around my district. Looking at the latest charts/sat images, don't think this one will be anywhere near as bad, thankfully.

From RJS on another thread.:

Just an update from all the latest guidance the winds will soon ramp up to strong gales or even storm force in parts of Scotland, especially tonight when the low bombs and heads through the northern Isles. This time the Hebrides will get quite a powerful W-NW blast after the low passes, but as with the recent windstorm about ten days ago, this one may max out in the Glasgow region again. There won't be much sign of really strong winds until after about 1700h then things should get quite active. Some thunderstorms likely to develop across northern England and southern Scotland at times also.

I expect the maximum gusts to be 90-100mph in lower elevations of central Scotland, but not quite that strong in northern England, that reported forecast in the thread above seems a bit high for anywhere in England, more like 45 mph sustained gusting to 70 mph perhaps.

I can say it's picked up considerably in the past 30 mins.

I think 100 mph in low land Scotland is a bit over the top perhaps 80 max but time will tell. I noticed that Glen Ogle has recorded 83 mph according to XC weather so perhaps I better shut up. Apart from that Winds are forecast according to XC to drop from 18:00 onwards Western areas and from 21:00 hrs Eastern side.

Considering the rain wasn't as bad as forecast perhaps the wind should have been the main item of warnings rather nothing at all. Still no warnings for strong winds. Oops.

You'll be busy this weekend then. Still fixing from last storm.

Just read RJS update and looks like it may get worse than last time

Looks like overall it wasn't much of storm but still should have been mentioned. Lorries could have been toppled over for example. Well done Netweather for mentioning it and a slapped wrist for Met O for not noticing.
