to Nick F - hope you don't mind me playing with one of your photos, but I think the water pouring out of the end of the pier makes a good picture on it own !

Thanks for that :unknw:

Does look even better cropped and zoomed in on.

Will try and get a video clip on here this evening that I took on the camcorder sat in Paul's car watching the waves breaking over the breakwater.

Lol at the photoshop NL!

All my clothes, face and hair were salty when i got home, could taste it too. As for the cameras, need to give them a good clean this evening - particularly the lenses. Not ideal trying to photograph outside in salt spray being driven by 40-50 mph sustained winds with even higher gusts.

My car was covered in salt too, but should hopefully wash off in the current rain.

Ha! and my brake discs had gone red rusty just in the hour or so I was there. I did ask if I could chain my car to Paul's Merc, but the way it was moving I think we had more chance of losing them both in the gusts.

So you chickened out of walking along the jetty to the lighthouse then Nick?

Er, such an idea hadn't crossed by mind!

Would have got drenched or drowned the other side of the car park before you reach the jetty the way the waves were crashing over the fence inside the harbour.

Excellent guys...fantastic photos...couldn't make it to Newhaven (what a good idea!) as I don't have transport and had to work! Although I did go down Eastbourne seafront just before high tide and the sea was right up to the shored up defences...a few pebbles thrown onto the prom east of the Pier - that's it....I miss the days when it used to hit the Bandstand ;)

Here's a youtube clip of the video I took yesterday while watching the waves pounding the harbour - with a little apt music too:

I was originally going to put the foul language version on here (the original version is on youtube too) - but I discovered how to dub the video over with music on windows movie maker - just got to grips with how to use it! Save any sensitive ears!

Nice vid Nick, sure shows the fury of the wind/sea, when we were kids

we'd often go down to the beach and go on the piers and get drenched

would'nt go on when the sea was getting whipped up like that, though

we'd still get as close as possible..!!
