Clear periods during the early hours allowed the temperature to fall low enough for a ground frost. Minimum air temperature 2.6c, grass minimum -1.5c. At reading time, dry and bright, but with a good deal of high cloud. The morning continued dry and bright with a light wind, but still with large amounts of high cloud. The afternoon saw more in the way of brightness with sunny spells and felt very mild, maximum temperature 10.9c. The night saw a shower which produced 1mm.

The day started bright and continued bright until about 15.00 although from mid-morning this brightness was strangely at the same time as some showery rain. It then turned very dull with heavy rain which is still falling now. A muggy day with a maximum of 13c and it's been calm thoughout, temperature now is 10c.

Thoroughly horrid night. Was very mild early afternoon when it was still dry - upto 13.8C. Now 8.9C - been raining constantly since 6pm. Saw a flash of lightening about 7.30pm when the rain was at its heaviest. Got briefly lighter about 8 pm, giving me the opportunity to walk back from the pub after watching the Arsenal v Boro match. But heavy rain resumed about 8.30pm ever since. Downright grot. Loads on the radar to push through yet too. Had about 11mm of rain so far... wouldn't be surprised to total 20-25mm overnight. Just as well I cut the grass on Thursday when the ground was relatively dry.
