Thunderstorms at UEA Norwich

[Thundery wintry showers]

Pictures from the 6 August overnight storm are available in the convective storms area. 7 August had quite an impressive overhead storm at 4-5pm, not much lightning (though I nearly got struck by a stray C-G strike- the perils of having a "skywatching" spot at the top of a hill!) and continuous thunder for 20 minutes.

During the evening Norwich stayed in a clear slot while storms sprouted up around the vicinity.

Then, after sunset, a large storm cell approached Norwich from the SW, bringing a good lightning show, though the electrification fizzled out once the storm came overhead. Some lightning shots here.

As someone who's lived in the relatively thunder-free Tyne & Wear area for years, the amount of storms we get in Norfolk is something of a novelty!
