Typical! This cell died before reached us but gained some good lightning show. I have two best pictures of night. Doesn't look as good as others so far. The clouds are very smudged by strong norther'lies. We had some rain. Total 5.8mm.

Its already hot and humid with nice Northeaster'ly seabreezes. Temperature now is 25.4/19.3 and feels like 26.7. Today outlook for the storms looking incredibly repeated since last October where we had tornado, hailstorms and violent supercells.

For today instability looks incredible at Li -8 and CAPE 2600!

stormcast_20080919-18-5_li_brisbane.png

stormcast_20080919-18-5_cape_brisbane.png

Looks like one or a few HP monsters locally. Northern Rivers would be direct hit from most activity according to moisture profile and good solid windshear like on 17th December 2005 violent supercells. Any risk of tornado is low to moderate, could be anything according to windshear profile produce any rotations from any supercell monsters!

Now tomorrow is going far from the worse, instability deepening towards US Texas style supercells with severe Li's down to -10 and CAPE well above 3100!

stormcast_20080919-18-13_li_brisbane.png

stormcast_20080919-18-13_cape_brisbane.png

Looks like best storm outbreak since last October yet to come! Bring it on rain and storms!

Sweat city for Sydney
Sam Terry, Saturday September 20, 2008 - 17:55 EST // For Sydney and some other parts of eastern NSW it has been the hottest day this year, according to weatherzone.com.au.

Today Sydney sweated under the sun, already making it to 26 degrees by 9 o'clock. The mercury continued to rise, moving up to hit 32.8, a whopping thirteen degrees above the September average and the hottest day since last October. It also meant that it was the warmest it has been this early in Spring for 110 years.

It was very similar for the rest of the NSW coast, with temperatures ranging from about five to fourteen above average. Ulladulla topped at 29, the hottest day in a year. Newcastle also felt the heat, reaching 33, the hottest day since early January.

Tomorrow looks to be warm too, forecast to reach 23 in Sydney city. On Monday, temperatures could reach 30 again. So far, its been a very warm spring indeed, with no end in sight.

Had a very fantastic supercell with strong to gusty inflow winds and heavy rainfalls. Lightning and thunder are just constant! They wouldn't stop and couldn't hear my dad talking!! Scored lovely 15mm here (at my mum's place in Ballina scored 12mm) and max wind gusts up to 80-90km/hr at times. So here of my best 12 pictures.
