Forked lightning (cg) sighted to my west now. Couldn't here the thunder though. I would guess it's somewhere just west of the A69/A1 junction

bloody hell direct hit, blew the pc and all the electric off.

dogs are freekin out here.

Woah.

I'm kinda glad that its going around me then. Albeit the radar is telling me that the portion to my west has beefed up again.

I'm a bit nervous actually waiting for this stuff. It looks dangerous.

Can see a small anvil when I go out into the back garden. Mostly sunny here, but it looks on the radar as if far south-west is becoming active.

Praying we miss it here

I'm guessing any storms we get here won't be very intense?

A totally dry day here apart from some spots of rain from that dieing shower earlier leaving alot of mid cloud now, shower has only just passed :) all that gave was a strong west/SW wind and cooled it down to 15c :)

Did hear 3 rumbles of distant thunder 2 very faint, first rumble was deep/sharp 2.45pm most likely from the CB to the east,of which there was 2 showers.

A line of CB`s very high/TCU to the NW/west when I was out, must be the 2nd trough, just a few TCU to the distant SW which looked promising.

There is an explosion of cells just to the east of Manchester! I have no chance of getting them thanks to the westerly breeze but lovely to see anyway!

Don't you just love the Irish sea? The slightest breeze from that direction is enough to destroy any chance of a storm!

Yes from your location, the chap in Ware and also here in Sawbo we can see the storm north of us that looks quite impressive on the radar just at the moment.

I have a great vantage point here and this storm definately has increased in size and as I look west it is getting darker. ?

I do not believe it!:doh:

Some very large clouds which look to be the edge of a storm, but nothing heard or seen! And it's not heading in this direction!

At home we have increasing Altocumulus from the W/SW related to the storms/showers across Somerset/Devon, quite anvil like so I think it is an anvil spreading in.

On the MetO radar, something seemed to pass quite close?

The Met radar shows remarkable development between 15.00/15.30/16.00 in the areas East of London.

The NW radar shows just how quickly this development occured - explosive!

Ahh well I was quite close to the window luckily so got to see a small bit of the storm from the window and see how heavy the rain was. But only saw 2 flashes out the corner of my eye because of this, there was some quite close strikes though with loud gunshot like thunder.

Sounds like a positive CG to me  .

Much as I love thunderstorms, I am praying they stay away from SE11 for England v West Indies at the Brit Oval tonight

Fine there at the moment with Pakistan v Ireland playing.

Agreed, it was just growing as it departed here. Pretty impressive albeit it for a short period, but it looks like north of here is being hit quite bad.

Would be interesting to here from people near Cambridge.

Those storms in Cambridge look dangerous and I can imagine there has been some real bad flooding as well as power outages!

An incredible stormy sky to the north, the rainfall rates just miles to the north according the NWX radar are up at BEYOND 250MM PER HOUR! That is just unbelievable and I hope the small villages up there are OK, seriously it looks horrific!

I also swear I saw a funnel cloud, I'll post pictures soon!

Those storms looks so good. There is a storm about 3 miles awy from here and everything else just developed after here. How rubbish...
