The band of rain over the SW has significantley lost intensity, as expected. The showers over N.France do appear to be moving north, but they seem to be moving north all day but nothing really seems to be happen, allthough the 5:45pm radar shows ppn beginning to move over the sea watch the track and intensity as this is key.

I have a strange feeling that storms will fire in a line at some point this evening down into france , in a line with that stuff coming towards south east.

They are already, some kind of shortwave trough or convergance zone.

Also note the low centre over France may cause the cold front to begin swinging up from the South.

There was a couple of rumbles of thunder from that cell just west of Bristol but it seems to be dying now!! That was shortlived.

Convection seems a bit better now but its quite hazy. Looks like the East may bag it again.

Very interested in what's happening over N.France, if the front holds out West and that heads North then it could be game on this evening for Dorset/Wiltshire

Fingers crossed

Looks to have have too much of a westerly component to my novice eye.

12z UKMO does show a meso low forming over east English Channel/Dover Straits 00z-03z Friday - with an area of convective rain associated with it moving N across SE England - so could be an MCS ahead of the CF crossing the channel/SE England tonight if we are lucky.

However, don't think the models have been handling todays progress too well, certainly the cold front has been slower to progress NE than modelled, which may have a knock on effect to how things develop in the next 12-24hrs.

Nick Miller on the BBC 6.30pm forecast just said the front would bring 'the odd heavy burst, maybe the odd rumble of thunder with it'. Only mention of storm warnings was for the SW and Scotland.
