A much welcome relief today here in the North East, yes the SUN keeps popping out , fROM BEHIND THOSE cUMULUS CLOUDS WHICH KEEEPI DRIFTING ACROSS,

Temperature is a rather pleasant 18.1c at the moment, with a Gentle WNW breeze {will not last for long though} rain on the way this afternoon

Im currently in the garden in just shorts and vest, trying to get the front garden sorted,

We really need a decent dry spell, so i can get the lawns cut

The same story as it's been virtually all month here. Heavy showers moving in lines a few miles to the north and south of here and we squeeze through the narrow dry gap between.

A few short showers this morning but it's been dry for the last two hours, cloudy though with very little in the way of sunshine, and a f4-5 SW breeze,

Hi TM

Lol, Your location is possibly in some kind of mini rain shadow due to the geographical nature of the area when the wind blows in from the west.

The same often happens here where I live, just 2 miles from the Burton Town centre.

Very often when the weather is of a showery nature, though it seems from whatever direction they come. The valley areas south from Stretton, south through to Stapenhill most often receive the really heavy downpours.

This can be especially noticeable when travelling along the A444 out of Stapenhill and in to Stanton and in to South Derbyshire, roads in the valley can be awash with drains overflowing after torrential downpours, but less than a mile up the A444, it will very often be just damp or even completely dry, I have lost count of the number of time this has happened.

Edit, Having said all that, have just seen your post in July rainfall, i have actually recorded more rain here, 84.1mm up to 9am, which is very wet for this location, already 181% of the average here.

Afternoon Paul. The 'dry gap' has broken down in the last couple of hours as we've just had a heavy shower lasting about 20 minutes.

I'm never quite sure whether or not the 'missing all the showers' syndrome is a figment of my ( and everyone else's ) imagination or a reality, it seems to be something we all complain about at times and we can't all be right as someone must be getting drenched.

This month must be a reality as both you and Bottesford in Nottingham have had more rain than here which is most unusual.

Not sure where you are in High Peak TM but I'm close to Chapel-en-le-Frith and its been bucketing down here most of the day especially the last couple of hours, again as it hardly seems to have stopped for the last three days. Frankly I'm fed up with rain and anybody who wants it is welcome to it.
