Beautiful day with near maximum sunshine hours and no wind. A high of only 10C, but who's counting?

Very benign situation we're in right now.

Nationwide high only 14C today, so quite cool even in the North.

Interesting that the lack of intensity to that high, and it's position, almost makes it look like a Summertime situation or at least Spring.

July is historically the least windy month in Wellington and this month has lived up to it so far, with a very good northwest blow the other day but nothing else of note. If we get stuck back into a westerly pattern though the Spring northerlies will seem like they've come early....

A lovely morning here, plenty of blue skies and sunshine, it feels like mid summer again!. Hopefully the clouds don't fill in and we loose the sun this afternoon as forecast. I am off to Lake Windermere to watch the airshow, always a highlight of the summer season here in Windermere, in previous years the airshow weekend has been a scorcher, including last year when it coincided with the mini-heatwave and hottest temps of the year, alas it is not to be this year, but at least one of the two days will not be rained off..

Nice mainly sunny day after a chilly start(10C) though still breezy and it's turned more cloudy late afternoon, today looks like the best day of the next week, a high of 22C still 1C short of the average max for the last week in July though (23C), the week ahead is usually the warmest week of the year on average, not this year though.
