A poor summers day here. The morning and lunchtime period wasn't too bad with cloudy skies but it stayed dry, then the rotten overcast gloom set in and with the drizzly sporadic rain which is still continuing. The cloud level has been exceptionally low somewhere around the 150m mark due to the very moist air and mild tropical maritime airflow.. hate such days especially in the summer, days like today which just ruin a summer, I'd rather have a proper intense bout of rain than this mild low cloud drizzly stuff.. tomorrow is looking equally uninspiring

For those who like to go hillwalking in the Lake District and see some views, the synoptics at present are just about as poor as they can be to delivering conditions conducive for good hill walking - you end up in permanent cloud cover and mist which you can cope with in winter but on a day in August it takes the ****.

Feels like a very 'August day' - fair bit of cloud but always warm & muggy. Gets dark earlier than early summer but still warm into the late evening which is great for sitting out - now 19.5c.

Seems very 'seasonal' - exactly how I'd expect a late summer evening to feel.
