Climate Change means the Arctic Ice cap may be about to disappear, the Antarctic Ice sheet could be going to melt, and we might have more extreme weather, all because a simple molecular pollutant, Carbon Dioxide, is being released into the atmosphere in increasing concentrations; and if we don't get the political leadership to quickly transform our carbon based economies into non-carbon economies there is the potential for a disaster that could wipe out humanity.

Carbon emissions are but one possible cause of AGW which in turn is but one aspect of anthropogenic climate change (precipitation pattern change being in my opinion a more serious concern), which in turn amplifies or counters natural variation - resulting in a small, but not insignificant, (warming) trend over multi-decadal time periods.

If people lifted their heads from arguing the technicalities, they would realise that any changes that may take place will be so slow that they will be inperceptable to a human race that regenerates itself every 75 years - so that no single individual will ever notice a significant difference during THEIR lifetime.

Definitely happening/happened, not sure if it's manmade, but we should take action just in case - better to be just broke than starving, dying and broke.

The effect that man has on our climate is in my view overestimated, along with the existence and effects of too many associated assumed positive feedbacks

We are in a period when the planet is warming, but we are really only at the early stages of determining whether this is due to natural cycles, the activity of man, solar or terrestrial forces – so we need to curb the wasteful use of resources by the human race through reason and open debate, not “hockey sticks”, “the science is settled” or political chicanery.

If the scare/threat of climate change causes mankind to better respect the natural environment I don't care what the real causes are

Undoubtably we have warmed recently but climate has historical cool/warm cycles over thousands of years.

Do not underestimate the effect that the release of greenhouse gasses through human industrial processes has and will have on the global climate.

whatever is being burnt to boil the water, to create the steam, to turn the turbine, to create the electricity so I can write this might be causing climate change!
