GFS not giving much in the way of Wintry Precip making its way across the Pennines from the Trough. with +9h to go before its first impacts will be felt on the East Coast, it seems the only places in the NW likely to see anything from it will be Eastern facing slopes in the Northern half of the Pennines.

A beautiful band of snow showers now to my east! The hills are disappearing fast!

It should lose much of its intensity as it reaches Manchester but this is the beginning of an area of showers affecting Yorkshire!

Everything is white in Manchester after a 10min heavy snow shower. The sky now has cleared but more on the way according to the radar.

Snowing hard in Bacup, settling well. The gritters are out in force, they are obviously expecting more to fall. The radar looks good, the showers seem to be having no problem jumping from the east side to the pennines to the west side.

We had a snow flurry about 30 mins ago which lasted about 5 mins, but baring in mind my location is on the west coast (in Southport) it ain't bad!

Hardly any of the snow that fell earlier has melted which is very good!

All eyes now to the northeast of us.Already the snow streamer is affecting eastern Yorkshire!

Exprect more to come!

By the way, can you all put your location in your avatar so that we know where it's snowing - there's no much use saying it's snowing here if we don't know where you are!

Snow settled on the side roads here and very icy conditions to drive in, once you veer off the main roads. Just got back in from visit to mother, and a few cars were skidding here and there. Watching cars trying too negotiate steep icy inclines in this weather is like watching swans on a frozen lake.

More snowfall than I expected at this early stage. Showers are penetrating far inland.

I said yesterday the showers would push west, judgin by the posts in here it looks about right whistling.gif .

Anyway still snowing here in oldham dying down now and then but blizzard like most of the time so theres a good inch here atleast and thats not icluding the drifts that are starting to mound. The gritting of roads is looking pretty useless too, any meltage is freezing under the snow lol.

By the way that wind doesnt half sting your ears !.

First noticeable snow shower as around 4pm - enough to cover the pavements, cars and roads away from main routes. Surprisingly, the snow has settled and is still here now rolleyes.gif . We've had a few more quick blasts over the last hour, but nothing appreciable. Have to nip over the pennines later, so will post conditions up on the tops. Did notice that snow was already settling up there at 3pm, whlist it was clear down here

Here's to plenty more biggrin.gif
