Just light stuff outside the window, unfortunately.

And that webcam is literally two miles up the road!

Snowing steadily here - all settling nicely, filling in all the gaps where Friday mornings lot had melted. Nice and tidy again now :-)

Temp 0.5C and looks like it's set to drop sharply when the sky clears.

Getting a bit heavier here now, but currently still rain or sleet. Think it's getting icy what's falling, but not yet snow. I'm a bit nervous right now for all my inches.

I think its benefiting from what we call upsloping here...as the land height increases...classic when the front moves north to south

check out the sharp cut off between freezing rain and rain

freezingrain20dec09.jpg

perhaps this is an artifact of the tool used to identify ppn type or maybe reality is just that fine.

stopped snowing here in South Woodham Ferrers. roof top sunny sides that had melted are now white, which is great. overall though, never got going and underwhelming, about 1 cm, wet, soon to be icy.

Yup - it's almost certainly orographic lift. Not much in it, though - perhaps 20m.

yeah it was a bit too wet for my liking. Footprints in my garden filled in though.

Changed to snow here a few minutes ago now and is coming down now at a good rate. Sky light which had been cleared has covered over already. Flakes larger than the other day, and occasionally genuinely large.

Wow I'm alone here. I'll update anyway.

The initial heavy burst was almost entirely snow, though it was wet stuff. Fortunately it had a bed of snow, even on the roads, onto which to fall, so hopefully it has contributed rather than damaged.

It is still snowing now, flakes are smaller, and i suspect the snow might be better quality at this point. According to the radar I am in a lull and then there is still a further burst to come.
