Freezing rain on the Estate I live on by Junction 28 of M4, my car just went sideways and smashed my alloy on the kerb, skating rink!

we had a heavy shower completely out of blue as was not following things on here at about 23:00, then stopped then started again about 1am - heave snow, main road outside very treacheraous and only now snow ploughs came. a470 looks ok now after ploughts been down, but temps sill hovering around minus 2 - 0 degrees, now i am off to bed, seriously! got to make london heathrow tomorrow, somehow!

I'm amazed. This band has been across us for 3 hours, it's hardly moving, losing none of its intensity and all the while the snow is piling up.

Still heavy snow and piling up

I think we've got around 2 - 3 inches may be more and still it falls

:drinks:

It snowed in the East. Good coverage on the ground. Maybe and inch or less. Clear skies now.

It will be very interesting getting to work in Merthyr this morning. To be honest it will be very interesting getting out of the village.

Ouch.....Bargoed has got around 4 inches (10 cm) of snow this morning.....where the meto warnings for us down in Wales, that's not good enough! They are still saying on the BBC that there is some snow around...nothing mentioned some of Wales have had a good dumping!

However, I love the snow but will try to get to work later....forecast dependant - but do I listen to them?

This is a brilliant surprise and just the sort of thing that can be expected from this set up. Keep it going!

It only makes the news if it affects London or the South East!

Anyway, woken up to 3-4 ins here this morning.

True....but Welsh news hardly raised an eyebrow either! Never mind...this is great!

Revisions in the totals of snow in Bargoed.....been out and measured off my car and we have had an average of 7 inches which is 17.5 cm....quite good level covering everywhere and side roads completely stuffed!

Not from the main forecast but - there's a front coming in from the south - forecaster's said " we're not sure where this is going" mmmmmmm!

GFS - precip is showing some more snow showers for this afternoon as well

In work in Merthyr at the moment. Chaos on the roads in town. Gritters and ploughs haven't been out on a lot of roads.

Looks like a front coming in from south of Devon and Cornwall. Any likelihood that this will hit us later in the day?

Wow, 3-4 inches of snow here in Merthyr. Didn't expect this much at all, what a nice surprise... our luck finally came good. Will take some pictures later.

Yep the roads look bad, where is your work?

The front... I don't really know, there seems to be a lot of confusion in the models as to where it'll go, it may clip us...

The models seem to be suggesting more showers in the South over the next 2-3 days... hopefully they deliver as much as these did.

Civic Centre.

Still not a murmer on the news about the amount of snow. I really am a novice when it comes to weather, but it's been fun seeing the senarios change so much over the last week or so.

I

s this set up just unusual for Dec or would it be unusual anyway in Jan or Feb?

I think this took the pro meto forecasters a bit by surprise as the warnings went up pretty late as it was happening last night
