Snow on the beaches here in Blackpool this morning, with a rainbow visible over the Irish Sea. About 1.5cm on the ground which is surprising as it was hailing when I went to bed and my car thermometer (I know, never too accurate) said 5 degrees as I reached the coast.

Very picturesque in Cleadon- 5cm snow cover, Cb cells floating around (mainly to the west) and plenty of sunshine, and chances of a few more snow showers making it across to the east coast. Temp 1.1C, so probably a very slight thaw in the sun to come this afternoon but I doubt it will shave more than a centimetre off the overall snow depth.

It`ll thaw in the sun even below 0c with a dusting or just a covering ,

    a thick snowcover it won`t.

On a tin roof facing the sun it started thawing at 9.30am at -1c

Had an extra slight covering last night for a shower which made it this far.

Min of -2.1c now a very cold 0.6c with a S/SW wind coldest I think I`ve recorded from that windflow so far.

Sunny clear blue stunning winters day though. :D

All thawed on the steep field facing the sun already, not enough snow.

    No thawing in the shade.

A clear night last night with severe frost and ice despite not being as cold as recent nights (-2.1c, though that was colder than much of the region with stayed nearer the 0c mark).

A very sunny morning though a sheet of cold to the south now as the Power Station several miles away is causing enough cloud to now block out the sun a lot of the time.

    Temp 2.9c

    • Wet March so far with more rain for the rest of the month, but hints of more settled weather early April

It's been a wet March for much of the UK, with well above average rainfall, though the Northern & Western Isles have been drier than average. Despite a colder drier respite on Monday, staying generally unsettled to see out the rest of the month. But hints of some drier weather in early April. Read the full update here
