Thick freezing fog all night and at present. Temperature according to the Davis on the house roof is -4.6c with a min' of -6.2c, very low for here, and I'll be interested to see what it was in the screen when I go out shortly.

The AWS at Brierlow Bar just outside Buxton recorded a min' of -9.8c shortly after midnight, the lowest value since the station opened about 7 years ago.

Currently -6.0º and this is under cloud! I'd love to know how cold it would have got under clear sky.

Minimum was -6.8º and this is the coldest temperature I have recorded since I started on 25th December 2003 (guess what I got for Christmas that year?)

Cloudy, 0.3 deg C, wind light N. About 8cm of snow on the ground. Definitely working from home today - I had to abandon the car just off the A33 last night and get the train home from Basingstoke (total journey time just over 6 hours).

Yesterday: dry, very cold start, rain turned to heavy snow in the afternoon. Maximum 0.6, minimum -4.4.

It is nearing midday and it is insanely cold here. -5.0º and sunshine. 7cm frozen snow, copious amounts of frost on trees make the place look like the inside of a freezer.

Not as cold here last night as other stations in the area as we had cloudcover until around 2am. There was however a light snow flurry which was a nice suprise. Afterwards it then turned very foggy which left a layer of rime on most surfaces. It is now gradually turning clear as the fog burns off and there is some hazy sunshine coming through. Still rather cold though with a temperature of -0.9C. The min last night was -2.8C which is actually the highest for 4 days!

Positively alpine looking here. The fog has cleared to leave 2-3 oktas cirrus and stratus fractus with sunny intervals.

Temp' is -1.2c, 9.5cm snow cover and all trees etc thick with rime, which even the f3-4 SW wind isn't dislodging.

Had beautiful sunny skies for a few hours now. There has been a whopping 2 degree rise in temperature in the last 30 minutes, bringing us up to a rather nervous -1.3º currently, and that ice day is now looking over its shoulder. Hopefully the temperature will top out around now.
