Good to see Paul getting a mention... :cold:

If it is due to get even colder at the end of the month then I'm wrapping myself in loft insulation!

Better be right or Netweather will be getting a thrashing in the national press. Of course if it turns warmer the comment will be forgotten if it comes out right expect frequent media requests.

Shows the site is up and coming as well. Next step world domination.

The funny thing is, I didn't even say that!! I actually said that December was likely to turn out to be in the top 20 of cold December's in the last 100 year and not that this winter would be in the top 20 of cold winters.

Next step world domination.

It is already in the 5 year plan.

I see the red-top pun writers are working over time again:

www.mirror.co.uk

The big chill is set to continue for at least another TWO WEEKS, forecasters warned last night. Heavy snowfalls and ice have caused havoc across the UK after the coldest December for a decade.

The funny thing is, I didn't even say that!! I actually said that December was likely to turn out to be in the top 20 of cold December's in the last 100 year and not that this winter would be in the top 20 of cold winters.

Never let the truth get in the way of a good story :shok:

haha

you obviously need a lot more practice or to develop a very thick skin lad.

In 5 years working Manchester Weather Centre I would need no more than 1 finger to count the times the media, local and national quoted what I actually said!

Makes you laugh the media, If you say "one of the 20 coldest winters in 100 years" .......we only get 20 what you'd call "cold" winters every 100 years anyway? :shok:

Better ring in and correct them. I think you need to hire Alister Campbell. He'll do some good spin and they wouldn't dare misquote him.

Once upon a time about thirty years ago, someone from the British press rang me up in Canada to ask about a forecast for cold weather that had been issued (it did eventually turn quite cold that winter). I mentioned that a cold high was forming near Iceland and that if it showed up near Ireland then it would be much colder in Britain.

The story eventually came out and claimed that I had mixed up Ireland with Iceland.

I guess that would explain a few things, wouldn't it?

Why doesn't that surprise me!

The only thing you can be sure of about Media stories is that whoever has been quoted never actually said what he's quoted as saying ....

very very true

I find the media quote specific statements quite well, but it's often embedded in a story which is spun in a way that you may not agree with.
