Well Spring is upon us and Arctic melt has begun so I'll have a poke at this!

It's been a very hot couple of global months and the Nino may well rumble on into Summer proper so I'm kinda expecting a much busier time than last year (not difficult I know!!!).

Alex will be a T.D. at the least and will form around the 3rd week in May.

Are we counting depressions that then turn into something nastier or just those that make it to T.D.? If it's all then 19 for the season.

Colin is our first 'cane and comes in at a respectable cat 4 at the back end of May. I'm not liking Haiti's prospects this summer as even close shaves will prove disastrous for them.

It seems the professionals are all hyping up the season yet again. I think they will all be disappointed yet again. There will probably be 1 cat 5 and yes, it may make landfall and cause massive destruction but overall I think it will be a below average season.

Thought it would be nice to have a look at 2005 since it was the mother of active hurricane seasons, it was also very typical with the first few storms out east and then the middle part of the season saw some mid atlantic storms develop and then some later storms further north.

I won't point out the tracks of say the current 91L on here and where they *might best fit certain hurricanes in 2005.

I think it's time that a few organisations reviewed their forecasts now for this season.

I fully admit it's not what I was expecting and I think that an average at best season is most likely now.

Did well on number of cyclones (underestimated by 1) and not bad on number of Majors. Number of US landfalls was well off however
