So what was the feature that just exited the East Coast Nick ??

Was there 2 fronts ?

All will be revealed when the t+00 fax chart for midday comes out soon, but I imagine either split/upper cold front or trough.

Haven't noticed any thunder, but a large cumulonimbus has caught Norwich full-on and is giving a torrential cloudburst- flash flooding for the second time in five days!

Three cells in the Lincolnshire region (I think) on the latest radar, the heaviest of which with a rate

of over 200mm per hour.

Yep:

Some lively showers popped up over E Midlands currently nearer cold front, still some heavy bursts towards E Norfolk and E Suffolk coasts and there are some sferics associated with these cells (red circles are today's):

It was great I carried on doing my gardening in it lol was lovely and cool! It was really hot and muggy before. A bloke came to measure the windows and he must have thought I was really mad lol.

No thunder and Lightning though. But it was nice to have the heavy rain  It lasted about 5 minutes.

Some lively radar returns over W Norfolk/W Suffolk and E Cambs currently, sferic detectors confirm some lightning in these cells:

Very impressive cloudscape from that cell that just crossed Maidstone, some very dark almost purpley coloured low-level scud, and a very nice cauliflower top to the CB. I'm glad it's not yet thundery since it just missed me

i think its as the cold front gets nearer the se could have something breaking out this evening more widespread, as it uplifts the moisture a head of it into storm clouds. anyway back to the old mobile in a minute..il be reading... :drinks:

Explosive convection to my northwest, I presume towards Sevenoaks-ish:unsure:

Gone very dark suddenly in London - clouds look convective, but it's hard to tell what they're up to as it's by and large overcast....very muggy...feeling like a storm :drinks: as it has done most of this summer lol!!

I thought I was in luck!

Massive black cloud front approaching from the London direction (West)

The temp dropped by perhaps 2c and then the mother of all short sharp showers arrived.

Maybe 5mm in 10 minutes, now passed to my East.

In the brighter area behind I can see massive towering cumulus, and a further grey area behind so i'm still hoping :drinks: just maybe there may be a strike triggered amongst this chaos.

My secondhand shower, not much to report, and the stuff behind is equally unimpressive!
