UK Outlook for Wednesday 18 Jul 2018 to Wednesday 1 Aug 2018:

For the second half of July it looks as though fine weather is most likely to dominate across the UK, with mostly dry, sunny and warm conditions, especially in the south. However, there are likely to be interludes of more unsettled weather, especially in the north and northwest, when it may be cloudier with perhaps some rain at times. There's also a risk of some thundery showers at times in the south, especially in any further very warm or hot spells. Temperatures overall up until the start of August are likely to be well above average, but returning nearer to average at times in any more changeable spells.

That ties in well with my own (extremely broad brush!) ideas about 'thermal inertia' as well as with what the teleconnectionists are saying...when and from where is the big change going to come?

A 1975, '76 or a '95 will do me!:good:

Slight wording change today. From ‘above average’ to ‘well above average’. Are the met seeing the possibility of a plume?

UK Outlook for Monday 9 Jul 2018 to Wednesday 18 Jul 2018:

Monday and Tuesday look dry and sunny for most, with any overnight mist clearing quickly. There is a risk of cloudier and breezier conditions with some rain in the far north and northwest, whilst the east may have more cloud at times. From mid-week onwards the largely dry, settled and very warm conditions are likely to continue, although isolated showers or thunderstorms are possible in the south and southwest. Meanwhile the far north and northwest may be cloudier and breezy at times with a little rain. Temperatures generally very warm and occasionally hot in central and southern areas, but closer to normal in the far northwest. Towards the end of this period there may be change to more unsettled conditions particularly in the north and northwest.

UK Outlook for Thursday 19 Jul 2018 to Thursday 2 Aug 2018:

For the last third of July it looks as though fine weather will probably dominate across the bulk of UK, with mostly dry, sunny and warm conditions, especially in the south. However, there are likely to be interludes of more unsettled weather, when weather fronts arrive from the west and northwest, or when thundery showers spread from the south. There are very tentative signs that there may some more generally unsettled weather conditions into the start of August. Temperatures overall are likely to be well above average, with some further very warm or hot spells possible, but with temperatures returning nearer to average at times in any more changeable spells.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 10 Jul 2018 to Thursday 19 Jul 2018:

Tuesday will be very warm and sunny again in the west. It may be cloudier in the east but there will be warm sunny spells here too. Very warm sunny weather is likely to continue for the rest of the week, except perhaps in the far northwest, where it may be cloudier and breezy at times, with a little rain. It will become hot in central and southern areas, but stay closer to normal in the far northwest. The only significant winds will be a brisk easterly breeze in East Anglia and Kent and sea breezes developing all around the coast, keeping it less warm here. There is an increased chance of occasional rain, cloud or stronger winds for the following week, particularly in the north and northwest.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 11 Jul 2018 to Friday 20 Jul 2018:

Wednesday and Thursday will generally see sunny spells and a chance of a shower. Cloudier in the far north with a little rain or drizzle possible. Temperatures will be nearer to normal in the far north but probably still very warm in the south and west. Thereafter conditions are probably going to gradually turn more changeable and somewhat cooler. There will likely be an increasing chance of showers, possibly thundery in the south, and bands of cloud and rain are likely from the northwest, weakening as they move southeastwards. There will still be some fine and sunny weather, most likely in the southeast. It will be breezier, especially in the northwest where temperatures will be near average, but still warm or very warm at times in the south and southeast.

UK Outlook for Saturday 21 Jul 2018 to Saturday 4 Aug 2018:

Changeable conditions are set to continue through the start of this period with further spells of rain likely, especially in the north and northwest. However, there is low confidence in how long these conditions will last. Some further spells of fine, settled weather will probably return later in the month for many areas, although further spells of rain are possible arriving from the northwest with showers or thunderstorms possible in the south. Temperatures are likely to be above average for many with further very warm spells possible, most likely in the south. Temperatures will be closer to average in any unsettled spells, these most likely in the north and northwest.

Thursday and Friday will be mostly dry with variable cloud, sunny spells and isolated showers. Breezy in the southeast at first, otherwise winds will be light. Locally very warm in the south and southwest and a little warmer than of late in the north and northeast. UK Outlook for Friday 13 Jul 2018 to Sunday 22 Jul 2018:

Friday will be dry and warm again across many parts of the UK though there may be a few showers. Next weekend looks like staying mainly warm and fine though there will probably be more cloud around than the weekend we've just had, and perhaps a few showers. In the following week, the weather may well turn more changeable and somewhat cooler. There will be an increasing chance of showers, possibly thundery in the south, and bands of cloud and rain and stronger winds are likely from the northwest, weakening as they move southeastwards. However, there will still be a good deal of fine and sunny weather, the best of this most likely in the southeast.

UK Outlook for Saturday 14 Jul 2018 to Monday 23 Jul 2018:

Next weekend will stay mainly fine and very warm. Sunny spells are likely for most of us but there will be some rain in the far northwest and a few showers further south. Later on Sunday and in the following week, the weather is likely to turn more changeable, breezier and somewhat cooler. There will be an increasing chance of showers in the south, and some of these could be thundery. Bands of cloud, rain and stronger winds are likely to move across the UK from the northwest, weakening as they move southeastwards. UK Outlook for Tuesday 24 Jul 2018 to Tuesday 7 Aug 2018:

Changeable weather could well continue for a few more days with occasional, perhaps thundery showers in the south, and further spells of rain in the north and northwest. Temperatures in this period will be above average for many, though closer to average in the northwest, and in wetter and windier bouts of weather. Fine, bright and dry spells may return at the end of the month and into the start of August. Further very warm or hot spells are possible, most likely in the south.

UK Outlook for Sunday 15 Jul 2018 to Tuesday 24 Jul 2018:

Following the remarkable spell of dry, fine and very warm weather, changes are expected at the start of this period. Probably starting dry across southeastern areas, with sunny spells, where generally very warm and humid. More changeable and cooler in the northwest, with some rain or showers, which are likely to extend southeastwards to all parts. This change could be accompanied by thunderstorms across the south and east. Into the middle of next week, its looking generally more changeable, with rain or showers. More organised bands of rain are likely to arrive from the northwest at times, probably weakening as they spread southeastwards. Still some fine weather with sunny spells, especially in the southeast. Temperatures near average in the north, but still very warm in the south and east.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 25 Jul 2018 to Wednesday 8 Aug 2018:

We are likely to see a continuation of the changeable conditions into the start of this period, with rain or showers in the north and west, which may extend southeastwards to all parts. Further spells of fine and settled weather will probably return later in the month and into early August. However, there is the chance of more changeable spells of weather arriving from the northwest at times, which may bring the risk of thunderstorms across some southern parts. Temperatures overall are likely to be above the average for many. Some further very warm or hot spells are possible, more especially in the south and southeast. Temperatures will return closer to average in any changeable or unsettled spells of weather, perhaps more generally in the northwest.

UK Outlook for Monday 16 Jul 2018 to Wednesday 25 Jul 2018:

Monday should start dry with sunny spells in southeastern and central areas, but warm temperatures here may spark off a few thundery showers. It will be cooler in the northwest, with some rain or showers, which may extend southeastwards to many parts into Tuesday. Brighter conditions will follow with a few showers in the west and northwest. From Wednesday onwards, it's looking generally more changeable than recently, with all parts seeing some spells of sunshine, but also rain or showers at times. More organised bands of rain may arrive from the west at times, but probably fragmenting as they spread southeastwards. Still some fine weather with sunny spells, especially in the southeast. Temperatures nearer average in the north, but still very warm in the south and east.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 17 Jul 2018 to Thursday 26 Jul 2018:

From Tuesday onwards, it's looking generally like a rather unsettled picture. All parts of the UK will see some spells of sunshine, but there is likely to be more in the way of rain or showers at times too. Some of the showers could be heavy or thundery at times, and there will be bands of more persistent rain arriving from the west at times. However, even within these there are likely to be some drier periods. The best of the fine weather and sunny conditions looks to be in the east and southeast of the UK. Temperatures will be near to average in the northwest, but it will still be very warm in the south and east.

All parts of the UK will see some spells of sunshine, but there is likely to be relatively more in the way of rain or showers at times too. Some of the showers could be heavy or thundery at times. There may also be bands of more persistent rain on occasion which may bring some stronger winds too, especially to northern and western parts. These bands of rain could occur at any time but become more likely later on in the period. The best of the fine weather and sunny conditions looks to be in the east and southeast of the UK. Temperatures will be close to average in the northwest, but with light winds it will still feel very warm at times across the south and east.

UK Outlook for Saturday 28 Jul 2018 to Saturday 11 Aug 2018:

Confidence is very low as we head into August, however the most likely scenario is for a broadly unsettled pattern to continue. Therefore prolonged spells of dry weather are unlikely, although it is expected to remain drier across the southeast to start this period. Instead, showers or longer spells of rain are likely across the UK, but these will be interspersed with spells of sunshine. Winds will be light for most of us, but it will be windy at times, especially across the northwest. In those light winds it will still remain very warm outside of any showers or prolonged spells of rain.
