Smaller cell just below the main cell now going through Waco has started to intensify and has developed good structure.

LOL Gene Yates windscreen has just been popped by hail.

God knows why he has driven up through the hail core he was well placed earlier down on the SW right on the edge of the cell but then decided to shoot up north.

Sounds like a rain-wrapped tornado beneath the storm south of DFW now with 100mph winds, near Blooming Grove heading east towards I-45 and Corsicana!

Very strong couplet went between Vilonia and Beryl just recently. Classic signs of a potentially violent tornado.

Heads up for an Upgrade to HIGH Risk for today from NE Texas, SE Oklahoma across most of Arkansas :help:

Just been reading about todays severe outbreak and thought this is going to go High risk.

Heres what 28storms.com have to say...

Tuesday

As the jet streak dives into the base of the trough, it will lead to very strong divergence over Arkansas. This will help provide sufficient lift for the development of severe thunderstorms by the late afternoon and early evening.

The initial wave that affected the region Monday evening should be well out of the area by Tuesday morning. This will help the airmass to quickly recover and become primed once again for severe thunderstorms including strong tornadoes, large hail, and damaging winds.

Shear looks very supportive for the development of supercells, initially. Bulk shears are expected around 50-60 knots (threshold for supercells is >40 knots). Furthermore, shear vectors will be nearly perpendicular to the frontal boundary. This allows storms to be more discrete because the downdrafts and updrafts are better separated from other storms. In addition, low-level shear will rapidly ramp up during the evening hours (similar to Monday evening). 0-1km helicites will quickly become >200m2/s2 in response to a strengthening low-level jet. Also, surface winds will begin to back out of the Southeast in response to the developing surface low. Hodographs are showing a very pronounced looping pattern, which signifies strong directional shear. Furthermore, these ingredients for shear are all conducive for significant tornadoes.

Yep looking amazing, ALL Parameters are coming together for Discrete Long tracked Tornadic Storms.

My target today is between De Queen and Texarkana on the US 59 Highway.

Storms should fire around 23-00z and stay discrete, LCL's are very low and these storms should initially track to the NE But turn very quickly to the East. Only problem could be the HP Nature once again.

Not surprising with regards to Vilonia. That radar presentation was about as scary as they get. I honestly expected to wake up to news of more victims. The town is spread out east-west and there was no way that storm was getting by without impacting at least part of the town. Looked like it went through about 3 miles W of the downtown area, from the radar but with storm tilt that could be out by a bit. Reports of businesses right in downtown destroyed doesn't match up with the radar unless this was a very large tornado or had a very damaging RFD wrapping around it, otherwise.

just been looking at the radar and sattelite pics still some severe storms about the storms that effected DFW area are just about to clear the coast east of Houston the storms further north are pushing well east now so the air looks to be clearing for lots of convection to get going another big day in prospect i think there may be cells kicking off early again today

i would head for NE. texas and take it from there as the nowcasts come in i dont want to be too far north though as want to catch the tail end storms or anything that breaks out of the lineup

The couplet on the radar of the tornado that struck Vilonia is quite incredible, debris ball shows up very clearly.

I think that is the best radar presentation I have ever seen of a tornado. It is incredible.

Really sorry to hear about the victims in Vilonia. The more we understand these things, the better and more timely warnings we can give. This is what needs to be remembered when lives are lost.

Sobering stuff looking at the reports and footage from the Vilonia tornado damage path. Difficult chase terrain in NW Arkansas where Vilonia is too with all those hills and woods, certainly difficult for those chasers keeping a safe distance with failing light and difficult visual behind trees and hills, looks like they caught some RFD or circulation in the 3rd video posted by NL.

Also Fantastic example of the couplet, shows clearly the wind velocities moving different directions and the debris ball!

this morning when checking out the damage on little rock news stations there was some pictures by one of there stormreporters trapped in a traffic jam stretching back over 2 miles

caused by drivers sheltering under a bridge he had to sit it out in the storm with lots of others unable to drive away it looks like those under the bridge where well out of it !

This i cannot believe.... why do People come to believe that under a bridge is safe?:fool:.... simple laws of physics prove that anything pressurised into a smaller space will speed up!... If i blow into a straw gently, the force on the opposite end of the straw will be high.... :wallbash:

But i suppose they dont really get time to think about the wonderfull world of physics!...:whistling:

Most weren't aware of any tornadoes in the area, they were sheltering from the 'golf ball' sized hail.
