A sharp shower this morning dropped another 1.2mm of rain bringing the total to May so far to 32.4mm and the total for the year to date to 511.8mm, which equates to nearly 75% of last year's total already!

Today is probably the dullest day for about a month with very little sunshine/brightness. A layer of medium level cloud with Cirrus above

and Cumulus/TCu and showery Cumulo form clouds below. Currently 14.9c (max so far 15.5c) and humidity is 64%.

The GFS predicted some pretty potent convective cells for East Anglia this afternoon but I don't see it happening, due to the amount of cloud cover (so where's the surface heating mechanism going to come from?). Dry and cloudy in Norwich and 17C following a sunny start to the day. Overall, what was looking like (for me) a pretty entertaining spell of "sunshine and showers" is looking under threat of turning into a bit of a cloudy damp squib- such is life in low CAPE environments!

At least your squib is damp ...mine is as dry as a bone, I've got the sunshine but not had the showers !!

Not had any meaningful rain though- just the odd bit of drizzle, and occasional light showers overnight (judging by the radar). Having said that, the grass around here seems to have made a slight recovery over the last couple of days, and shower activity is expected to increase in the Norwich area over the next three days.
