Nice link, you can certainly see the Tavy is clearly rising and rather quickly between 10 and 11am

Edit- agree with the Lynher and Camel- how long till that field starts to get flooding on the Camel I wonder?

Thanks, I'm not sure how long it would take but it appears to be rising pretty quickly as it's a lot higher than when I looked earlier. In fact looking at it now it doesn't look far off it now!

Nothing too bad here today but we weren't forecast to get the worst here - in fact we've had more than some forecasts showed yesterday. Currently about 15mm has fallen from some heavy bursts in the early hours and light-moderate outbreaks all day. (I still need to correct my weather station's gauge which is over-reading slightly and is showing 17.6mm).

Indeed anyone know what towns are down river from there?

Wadebridge is the only major town on the River Camel- and the river through the town is wide- hopefully won't be a problem

Just done a quick Google Maps for the area around Nanstallon and it lies between Wadebridge to its NNW and Bodmin to its E. However, the river meanders its way away from the main conurbations excepting Wadebridge which is at the coastal extremity.

An interesting link for sure. good.gif

Yep.

The river is very tidal in this part, all the way down to Padstow.

If this is occuring with the high tide then flooding would not be out of the question for the town.

Well Padstow High Tide is at 1601hrs this afternoon.

I have to say the rain is getting steadily worse and heavier here now. Surely it's going to be the wettest day here this year and by some distance.

Edit- look at the River Camel webcam now- its going to be bye bye field within the hour!

St Austell looking ok (or as we call it Snozzle)

Problems in Bodmin, Camelford, Bude and Bugle due to flooded roads.

Trees down in Liskeard area as well.

Any ideas if Boscastle is in the firing line? This should test their flood defences. unsure.png

Well theirs a warning out for Canworthy Water and problems in Camelford, but as the rain has been over a longer period on Bodmin Moor hopefully it should be good news for Boscastle.

awful here. flooding starting to really affect people. Took a few pictures of six mile river in antrim earlier today. just heard that it has now burst its banks. Homes being flooded up to 3feet of water coming into homes apparently.

some pics excuse the bad quailty:

They say "a picture paints a thousand words" and the one above certainly does. I've got a hunch that it may well be "wellie" time for a few folks down south over the next few days and possibly more to come in the weeks ahead. Take the 06z GFS ensembles for Hampshire as an example.

Could be interesting times ahead in terms of rainfall, hopefully nowhere near the October/November 2000 standards.

Cheers

Finally found a St Austell webcam but it points in the wrong direction for today.

http://www.seasideho...uk/WebCam/live/

Nearest independent weather station I can find is at St Mawes and shows 34.2 mm of rain so far today:

River Camel has burst it's banks. Looks like in less than 24 hours it's risen about 7ft.

River Lynher looking very high also and Tamar and Tavy looking high.

The picture is from November 2010 according to the caption on the website. This may be obvious to most but wasn't to me - I thought it was today when I first saw it - so just to clear it up in case anybody is as daft as me.

It is very dark here at the moment and is raining moderately.

I suspect that it won't get as bad as other places have had it though.
