5c icy rain in Edinburgh at work no snow yet!

We have snow falling again just almost a year ago to the day. Wet half crown flakes of snow started falling about an hour ago at 2c. Now dryer flakes as big are settling on the grass and trees currently 0.5c.We seem to have gone from late summer yesterday with gales and dust blowing about at 13c to winter this morning

Looks like any snow is very wet and is struggling to settle, even in the highlands this morning.

A hefty sleet shower here has left some slight deposits!

Friend of mine tells me similar down in Orkney, area around Kirkwall is white.

Hi all,i be new to the site.

That great weather forecaster ''The Express'' is suggesting that snow is on the way too.

Although they did suggest that there would be a cold spell in October,which never happened. They also got some of the Summer wrong.

It is hard to believe that this time last year,much of the UK was freezing,even here in the South-West.

The Autum/early Winter before last was also cold,as was the one before that.

So i do hope we see cold weather again down this way ?.

I remember the Met Office saying last year that the UK can get used to these cold Autumns and cold early Winters,as it would be a new trend.

Snow showers here in Shetland and our first lying snow of the winter. Not much bit its a start and quite a difference from just over a week ago!See the photos below:

Are you sure? Temps, dewpoints, 850's all against this.
