Hi guys. Thought it would be a great idea to start a thread illustrating different links that gather wind speed data from the UK.

Gusts will be exceeding 100mph in places, so why not post your weather station link so people can view your speeds?

Useful links

http://www.wunderground.com/

All useful for UK wind speed, and working out the force of the wind speed.

My station

The NMM model says gusts of up to 80mph are likely in my area. So I thought I would share my station. :D

Please feel free to post more links, and please post your stations up.

Thanks. :)

Two private stations in my area, if anyone from D&G wants to keep an eye on wind speeds.

Which NMM model are you looking at? The NMM only shows gusts to around 50mph or so for the Cheshire area. 70-80mph over Cumbria and the far north of England.

Way above 50mph gusts mate... 70mph possibly above at times for Runcorn.

I have just looked at the NMM model and it shows nothing like that, see chart below, 50-60mph.

Meto predicts 55-60mph max gusts also.

Near enough 70mph gusts here though Liam- look at the proximity to the 75mph gusts nearby blackpool and that- it doesnt take much for it too fall southwards a couple miles and we're talking considerably more damage.

Blackpool is a very exposed sea front location, 70mph+ on the coast would mean around 50-60mph further inland which what is forecast for that area. It's going to be very windy but nothing to overly concerned over.

Meanwhile rather worrying is the risk of 60-70mph mean wind speeds over SW Scotland and the far north of NW England, current data has severe gales over land which is unusual with gusts in excess of 70mph and around 85mph on the coast.

You will get hammered as well IF.

The speeds on that for Runcorn are in excess of 60mph, rather easily, especially when backtrack lives in quite a high part of runcorn... 64-68mph for him, maybe past 70mph if we shift it down 10-15miles, and some gusts above 75-80mph.

I can't see the wind strengths you are predicting that far south in NW England, charts or on any forecast. Sorry to be party pooper.

Stop arguing.

If I want stronger wind I'll just eat beans. Problem solved.

We shall indeed see the final outcome tomorrow Liam mate :) I personally believe with a bit of height then 70mph could be possibly sustained in Runcorn, especially as the nmm shows 60-65mph gusts on that chart I posted... indeed Blackpool will get a lot, METO says 70mph gusts for them.

You may have some fun tomorrow yourself Liam!

Could someone change the title of the thread to 'Thursday's Storm Reports' or something?

60mph ain't bad for your location I don't think?

I think an early night is order so I can wake up and start tracking this beast as it make landfall!

Will likely be higher than that up Runcorn hills. I will be up there tomorrow with my hand held anemometer.

Unfortunately I have a funeral to attend tomorrow. I have to be up early anyway.

From central southern England, here's two sites:

Firstly mine, I'm about 2miles inland

http://pooleweather.net

And from the harbourside there's this one:

http://www.pooleharbourweather.com/weather/

Both show speeds in kts & beaufort scale

Thanks for that. Good looking software on the harbour one. Wouldn't mind downloading that. Do you know what it is?
