I dont understand the charts so i just read the MOD thread and try to get a general impression from what people write as to what to expect weather wise.I have to say that we seem to be always chasing the cold or possible snow this year for it only to be put back further.I am starting to give up now ,i would love nothing more than to see real cold and snow would be a bonus,i understand we could still get it but i am losing faith now.Lets hope we get some proper answers soon as i feel lots are starting to pull there hair out.PROZAC anyone??? :pardon:

It is getting increasingly frustrating I agree. 10 days ago the models were saying this weekend, a few days ago they were saying next weekend and now they're saying the first week of Feb. It's like chasing the end of a rainbow.

I think in these situations it's best to adopt a que sera sera attitude.

Or try reverse psychology. I don't want any stupid snow :diablo:

Don't worry mate, they're still sitting on the fence, plus their forecast only went up to Friday and the Easterlies don't really get going until Sunday but, you could clearly see that block building to the East on their map which was very encouraging.

I'll bet British Gas are hating the continued mild weather. Profits will be down. I'm very sceptical about the easterlies being too cold.

At least it's one good thing, we can stick two fingers up to all the heating utilities.

What's the bet they find an excuse to up the bills come spring/summer? I hear there's going to be a war with Iran?

the london ensembles are below

MT8_London_ens.png

these ensembles are not warm

from the first i can see a lot more colder members than earlier

we need more runs to see exactly what will happen but there

is no way anyone can say winter is over.

i have been here a while and the models really struggle with easterlies

i will be intrigued to see what tomorrow brings

below a couple of ensemble charts

gensnh-2-1-192.png?18 30th jan

gensnh-8-1-252.png?18 2nd feb

keep patient the cold will come :winky:

hi msx

if i remember rightly the models picked it up at about 240

dropped it then it appeared again at about 120

i still think very end of this month and february will turn a lot colder

keep looking east

expect the charts to flip flop around for the next couple of days

regards

john

cheers, I do remember 2010's Nov/Dec freeze having a similar theme. Hopefully the models will pick it up out of the blue for the very near future.

Sometimes I feel like Neo from the Matrix, and wish there was some pill to swallow to not find this forum. Whilst learning about the weather is great fun, the over analysing every last detail kinda ruins the surprise.

Anyways I can't wait for when this place gets so busy that 5 pages go by when you come back after an hour.

You are correct JP. The models are flip flopping. Models will readjust this week to much colder conditions in my opinion.

Oh no, Coast. What have you done?

I'm personally quite confident in the outlook now, lets say 70-80% chance of much colder weather verifying at this stage.

Cheers

I've no data to back it up, but I remember February in the past was often the coldest month of the winter.

The cold November/December thing isn't that common.
