Snow is very very fine but becomes more noticeable in heavier bursts

Good, what is your temperature and asl?

Still doing the whole rainy sleet thing in the city centre (i live across from Leeds Met Uni at 70m asl).

Annoyingly i bet my parents have seen snow from the off at 184m asl.

Hi S B Yes been snowing up here since approx 7.30pm.

Decent covering on cars, grass, pavements etc.

Should start to build as temp drops and heavier stuff goes through.

Around 90m asl at 1.5C, really need that heavier stuff further north to start moving south then it'll get interesting

Must only be the urban heat effect preventing snow now.

In terms of what is to come, our precipitation will be coming from Scarborough roughly once the front straightens.

Looks like a bit more snow in the sleet, still majority rain.

Hail/ice pellets mixed in with snow. Temperatures remain consistent at 0.c

Snow cover varies, drifts against the side of the house showing the strength of the wind yet struggling to stay on the ground. It's quickly blown to the side of objects.

Pic below- nothing special just highlights snow cover at present on objects. Patchy snow cover on the ground with the grass doing well.

The NAE is great, an upgrade for here as the percipitation is further north...

Snow!

Still sleet but snowflakes have been hitting my window for the past 2 minutes.

Either need a much heavier burst or for it to stop for sustained snow (being night the lack of moisture will cool the air if it stops).

As i say, once the front straightens out the snowline will be Leeds-Scarborough roughly as it slowly moves south.

Still nothing here. Some snowflakes in the wind 7 miles to the east (St. Helens) and moderate sleet 7 miles to the northwest (Crosby).

Cloud has increased though, and it's gusting very strongly.

If you look at the radar for the last couple of hours we should have been seeing persistant precipitation, alas we have seen nothing. It seems the precipation from the north has broken as it has hit the central fells. We don't do very well for heavy precipitation in these kind of set ups - really need the feature to be further west. It is a bit dissapointing it has to be said - because conditions are perfect for decent low level snowfall in these parts, dewpoints and evaporative cooling working together. Expecting to wake up to a white snowy scene on the fells though.

I also don't believe today is the last chance for further snowfalls this spring, indeed we could end up with a snowy scene mid-late next week as we see a proper northerly plunge take hold.. you heard it here..

Very noticeable rain/snow shadow to the west of the Pennines on the forecast charts backed up by the radar images.

Here south of Warrington in north Cheshire the cloud is actually quite broken.
