Looks like the trailer for Friday into Saturday is starting now. Heavy downpour just gone, didn't last too long but there's more brewing up on the radar. We're used to rain up here, but this is starting to take the proverbial now. We had a bit of sunshine today and it felt quite warm but it doesn't last long before the rain comes again.

Hello from the STORMLESS West Cumbria, I did hear the odd rumble earlier as that batch of showers drifted northwards towards Carlisle and S Scotland. Hopefully the next few days will deliver something deemed half decent! Rather worrying model outputs and rainfall totals for some over N England, really hope on this occasion that this proves incorrect as it would cause particularly nasty conditions and serious flooding risks in some areas.

Managed to escape what appeared to be a very potent patch of precipitation to our south around 6pm. Skies did go very dark with ominous cloud but deposited very little rain, bit of an odd event..

Alas its been another one of those cloudy days with the odd shower thrown in and feeling quite humid despite temperatures only maxing out around the average.

The current airstream is soaked in moisture hence the very mild nights we are enduring - similiar to those very mild nights we get in winter under tropical maritime air, however, the uppers are nothing spectacular hence why maxes are not far off average even when the sun does come out - its not a particularly warm airmass for the time of year..

Looking ahead, N England currently progged to be in the firing line for some very heavy rain on Friday and Saturday.. certainly one to watch, whilst we don't have the temperatures of last week - the source of the rain will be from a very warm location and the added chill of the N Sea will help to pep up the rain sufficiently, Pennine locations could be very badly affected. Cumbria could also be very badly affected given the warmer air will pulse over the Pennines and collect here, NE Wales could very similiarly be badly affected.

What is it with Fridays and summer 2012, every one of them so far has been exceptionally poor.

Here we had 4mm in 2 or 3 brief but heavy showers today, but this was enough for water to start running off fields like there'd been a major storm.

It is so waterlogged even a relatively small rain event pushes rivers and streams up far more than normal.

This is very similar to 2007 when there was very serious sudden flooding in places which weren't normally at risk e.g. parts of Hull.

Bordering on uncomfortable out there today, really humid and close feel to things exacerbated by the strong July sun. Temp creeping up all the time under clear skies. 18.8c outside now, dew point 16.5c and very high humidity @ 99/100%..... Sweaty sad.png
