No wonder it felt cold with the temp only being 2.2'c here, luckily winds have dropped off 10mph to max gusts of 40mph within the past hour.

Thoroughly miserable here -steady driving rain in a gusty raw North easterly wind.Temp 4-5C all morning.

Mid winter would have likely brought blizzard conditions in this setup.

Dry and cloudy so far in Cleadon but the rain is knocking on the doorstep now- should be across in any moment.

I wouldn't be strongly against this sort of weather if it was a one-off but near the Tyneside coast we've already had a good half-dozen days of this type of weather so far this month (gusty E/NE winds and persistent rain) and it's got rather old very fast. It means the month's rainfall total should get above the 100mm mark.

Some heavy rain overnight but mostly dry with odd drizzle since then, before the next band pushes up later, very windy though with 70mph gusts

If this had happened in mid winter, would this have been snow, say if the cold pool in January was in place.

Sleet in Leeds city centre!

Seems to be snow mixing in with the rain (still mostly rain) although i shall be at my parents over 100m higher this afternoon so i could become a very happy person.

At last check it was 3C.

My area usually sees sleet/rain due to the winds off the North Sea in this kind of setup in winter, but it quite often brings significant wet snowfalls to Wales and the Midlands with substantial accumulations, especially but not exclusively over high ground- it would certainly have been interesting for some of us.

Kitchen getting rather wet due to the wind blowing the rain under the door. I need the wind to die down but no sign of that. Now up to 12.8mm of rain still coming down fast.

Something icy has been falling at Cleadon- looks like ice pellets despite a temperature of 7C.

Gust of up to 55mph for coventry airport in the last hour, which is incredible considering it's the most inland airport in the UK.

I think the strongest of the winds are due between now and 6pm, gonna be an interesting ride!

70mph gusts recently, driving around plenty of tree damage with quite a few fallen trees thankfully at the side of roads.

Since it started raining here yesterday afternoon we've clocked up 32.8mm. It finally looks like its giving the south east its last push before moving north west.

Yes that really is incredible for somewhere as far away from the coastline as possible in the UK, never known it this windy in late April before and with temps of 6C in that incredibly gusty wind it feels like temps of 0C or below, one of the coldest feeling days for a long time this late in the season.

Now who said it was going to be a normal sunday today with a bit of rain smile.png

Up to 18.00mm for the day, and the wind has noticably picked up in the past hour or so.

The radar suggests the back-edge is really pepping up.

It's seems most of the heavier rain is to the west, with the isle of man and Ireland in the firing line for a right soaking. It's seems the middle part is slowly dying with more heavy rain for eastern parts. A tad gusty here with light drizzle

A noticeable rain shadow effect around the Manchester area in the lee of the Peak District. The models which indicated just this effect yesterday had got it spot on, and I was rather sceptical at the time.

A notable rain shadow for Ceredigion, west of the Cambrians too today. Just 5mm, and only spitting since late morning really.

Been somewhat odd here watching the darker rain-laden skies moving past us east and westwards, with the mid-level clearance allowing observance of wind direction via the lower level clouds. Some of these clouds skirting just above the hilltops visually showing just how fast these gusts are even to these levels.
