Mostly cloudy overnight with a short spell of moderate rain around midnight. The day dawned damp underfoot and cloudy. Mostly cloudy with showers threatening to observation, though a few cloud breaks appearing during. The shower clouds receded shortly after observation and the rest day saw sunny spells, feeling pleasant out of the brisk west wind. Just after teatime showers clouds built once again producing a short heavy downpour here accompanied by small hail, there was also a very rapid drop in temperature from 14c to 8.5c in just a few minutes.

moved quickly NW-SE between 06.00-08.00!

Just a few light hail showers today but with a very cold fresh NW wind and currently 7c.

Lots of snow on all the hills round the Firth above 2500feet. On the upper mountain between 3500feet and 3800 feet at Cairngorm the average base depth is 128cm and the maximum is >340cm, deep enough for skiing on fresh powder on most days in the morning since the begining of April. until today and possibly for another week . A real topsy turvy spring

Just walked the spring barley with my agronomist sown in the heatwave of late March and it has grown so slowly since the begining of April that it will not be far enough advancd to spray for weeds before the 1st of June 2 weeks later than normal and with a ground frost expected in the next 2 nights you could scorch the barley if you sprayed it just now.

Sunny intervals until mid afternoon, just one slight hail and rain shower around 1330. Sunny periods since 1530. Very cool with a fresh NNW wind.
