Heavy and persistant rain all day apart from a brief respite around lunchtime. So much surface water and run-off down the chevin it was actually pouring through a dry stone wall like a waterfall! Low vis as well as the cloudbase decended over LBA and the max today has only been 15c in a gusty, cold northeasterly.

And as if 10 hours wasn't enough, more rain has pitched up this evening, again not forecast:

This Evening and Tonight

Heavy rain will move slowly north out of England into southern Scotland and Northern Ireland and separately, into southwest England. Heavy showers over central parts will lessen but continue in southern coastal counties where they could be prolonged and heavy.

Min Temp: 13.5C

Mean Wind: 8mph E

Max Gust: 23mph

Currently mostly cloudy with a temperature of 13.3C. Theres a small shower just to the south but it appears to be weakening rapidly.

Just seen our local river on the BBC national news. the Derwent at Belper Weir in Derbyshire..We've had just over 2" of rain today and yet the river seems pretty tame, unlike July 2007 when the full 10ft weir you could see was completely submerged..after 13 hours of continous rain this dry evening has seen a welcome break.
