Yes I'm in Ainsdale. Initially storm seemed to be passing just SW of us - Formby maybe? - but now seems to be intensifying rapidly..

Getting reports from Ainsdale (southern part of Southport) of thunder and lightning. Can't say whether its CG though

Edit: Thunder now heard, it is approaching.

Tell you what fella.... I don't know how high those cloud tops are towering but I'm i Barnsley in south yorkshire and looking west theres a truley massive anvil out west producing a fabilous light show. IM OVER 100 MILES AWAY....... the lightning in the twighlight is truley fantastic.

I'm seeing lightning leaving the back exit of the anvil firing into clear sky, this is a real treat guys.

Well chris, you may get more, easing round slightly south of west on my horizon (south of you) theres a new light show crackling away. this also looks at great distance so may be part of the same system your under.

I've taken photos of anvils over 100 miles over the Irish Sea from even near the Irish east coast.

I would say I live at one of the last highest spots in England that is the furthest south, Shining Tor nearby at 1800ft. Here on good days you get panorama's 360' and have seen thunderheads as far south as Ipswich and storms over the English/Scottish border. Definitely a unique place to be weather-wise and no doubt if I was up the local hill tonight near Sponds Moor I could be watching any sferics popping out from the Cheshire cells.

Having a blast in this storm! Video'd bits early on before it got a bit too intense and I had to come in, still quite impressive though it'll be on Youtube in a few minutes!

Two storms in a week so far, really impressive!

Just been out for a fag and was confused by flashes on the horizon, then realized its the storm over Liverpool, bare in mind im 20 miles from the east coast that is quite spectacular.

Just got a text from my brother telling me to go look outside, that stormy area over Blackpool is causing the sky to light up for miles. Very stuffy and humid too, feels like I'm abroad watching a storm out over the sea.
