Just shows anything can happen, who would have predicted them storms that have fired up out of nowhere in the channel!

Explosive convection in the south as expected if the cap gets broken, which is what has happened.

I am now not far from Worksop and it is muggy with some dark skies to my west. What has happened in the south is a good sign for later :)

Surface cap remains, it's mid-level showers and storms developing, destabilising most on western edge.

Very warm & still dry in MK, some patches of Ac every so often. It's the humidity that's the killer at the minute, you only have to move and your dripping. BBC & the Meto show a cluster of strong storms over the midlands, Oxford to Luton all the way towards Leicester area this afternoon. Certainly feels like it's going to go bang, just hope the storms running up through Sussex don't go ape and spread a cirrus sheet everywhere killing off chances here.

Ah right thank you, well hoping that cap breaks across the Midlands later so some storms can develop.

the rain and downdraughts from the mid levels can help to allow surface based storms later maybe.
