currently 1c here but feels a lot colder -3 when i got up this morning.

icy patches lingering where the sun cant get to.

I never thought i would say this but im fed up with these temps cant get my house warm.

Heating bill is going to be massive and plus this cold is keeping the kids in..no peace.tease.gif

So are we absolutely sure we aren't getting any snow out of this approaching low pressure? Seems like such a waste!

Nah, much milder air ahead of it, no chance.

We haven't had a decent break down for ages. You used to be able to hang your hat on at least a couple of hours of wet snow after a spell as frosty as this. Never mind.

Already colder than 23:00 last night, it's -0.8C and dropping quickly. If it wasn't for the Atlantic, -7C or below would be widespread even in towns and cities tonight.

Coming up to -3'c again in Buxton after peaking at the balmy heights of -2.6'c this afternoon. Hard to imagine in 24 hours there'll be something of a 14'c temperature upswing just from the passing of this occluded front.

We seem to be under a pesky layer of cloud, temp has risen from -1.4C to -1.1C. Wonder if this is the start of the mild. :(

had a max of 0.0C today, but expecting it to rise soon, not sure if its classed as an ice day

If it wasn't for those pesky shortwaves getting in the way then quick a few more interesting possibility's including that one could have been on the table but sadly they did :(

C.S

And then the ECM at 120 goes and gives us more hope and probably disapointment

C.S

Light snow been reported in places down south ATM

Just iamgine if the models had made a boo-boo LOL

-5 and a bit of a breeze picking up, feels as cold as it has done for a wee while.

I reckon if the Atlantic wasn't about to come in, and the breeze wasn't picking up we could have hit -10 tonight. Temps dropped out very fast.

Here we go again lol - 'beast from the east' comes out of the bushes to attack once again in F1

We've been here before haven't we? Oh well I hope the models get this right this time but I won't be holding my breath.

For the reliable though, the weekend isn't such a write off as I thought it would be a few days ago. Sure tomorrow is going to be wet, but sat and sun not looking too bad. Milder but not dull and dreary.

Currently the cold air hangs on -3c but that's probably as low as it gets for now.

Weather stations are very good at picking up Atlantic systems moving in and with your outdoor temp at below 3C (2C on some) then it will show snow. However, temps will rise well ahead of the PPN and I would imagine you will be at 1.5c by the time the Atlantic bangs the door down.

Yes, some of the eighties cold spells ended with anything between 4 and 8 hour snowfalls.
