Surprised the Met Office are being so casual about this event

It could well shut down much of the UK including London so to be so laid back about it all doesn't give people time to be prepared, especially commuters, who may not get home on Monday evening but haven't made any alternative plans because the Met Office are so laid back about all this

Much of the south and south east is going to get at least a foot of snow

Please people take no notice of BBC forecasts until a few hours before the event. Things are subject to change and they wont fully commit until nearer the time. They wont want any eggs on faces lol.acute.gif

Dew points look to be around -6, air temp 0-2 and 850s -7 unless you live on an island in the sea or literally live within 10 miles of the coast it's goona snow..

funnily enough, we do live on an island in the sea.....

A foot of snow? I thought we were expecting 8-10cm as an average in the south east (I am in Braintree & work in London), which dont get me wrong is a nice amount and would surly cause disruption in its own right.....but thats quite a bit short of a foot, which would be like the day after tomorrow senario in the SE!! rofl.gif

What are you basing the foot of snow on?

Perhaps a slight over estimate there, but 10-15cm definitely looks possible if this front does indeed stall

At least a foot! that would be good to see but dont think we will get that much.

Plus us inThanet would be happy with a 12th of that.

12z will be interesting, but I just can't see any reason why there would be ANY rain, or even hints of sleetyness in this set-up away from the coasts. I'm going to put my neck on the line here (when I do put it on the line, I'm nearly always right, as some older veterns may remember from previous events!) and say that away from the coastal strip, it'll be snow the whole way through. Settled snow at the start will neglect any WEAK (and that is actually what it is!) warm sector.

Also precip shouldn't be an issue, given there is a develop low on the frontal system if anything it should pep up, as per the warning.

Hello, some of us live on the coast {kent coast}sorry.gif

So glad you told me about London getting a foot of snow on Monday night, many thanks. I might have got caught out by that. I will take a shovel and build an igloo along the embankment and spend the night there. Thanks again.

Well its rained here all day in Eastbourne and the drops seem to be getting thicker. If this was snow we would be buried by now!
