Why do I even bother looking for snow for this region on the charts? Everytime it's forecast, you can just be sure there's going to be something to stop us being on the receiving end.

Jesus Christ, just for once I'd like to read the eastern thread without being jealous. Cannot wait to move from this ugly region.

If I move, I'll go to another country where they get frequent long lasting cold spells.

Anyway, you should get some showers soon. Let us know if they have a wintry mix when they come.

Uppers don't fall below -4C till 3pm and the dewpoint is above 0C. They'll be rain.

Just come back from the SPINE race which is now well through into Yorkshire with 35-odd runners routing the Pennine Way in these conditions non-stop. Here in the Peak District it's pretty much the same way with about 5-10cm of snow fallen and the usual reports of drivers sliding around on the main roads. Hopefully the skies will bring some more of the white stuff before the front clears, keeping a eye out for a Cheshire Streamer given conditions post-front are ideal for such a setup.

NW radar has showers from NI heading SE towards Wirral - Cheshire blue skies here in Lancs and temp dropped off - should be cold drizzle then? :)

Heads up!

Haven't read the E thread - not really that interested - but on the radar it's not exactly a staller is it? Newcastle seems to have copped it looking at the output.

If I wasn't laid up on crutches I would be heading up there with crampons and ice axe.

:)

How you manage that then? - on the slippery stuff?

I would - but domesticated bliss and the school run says not - we were up there on Saturday though (Windermere) - talk about bad timing - and will be there next weekend in Great Langdale - fingers crossed for what's in FI....

Who reported snow in preston?

I reported snow but not in Preston smile.png

If metoffice temp forecasts are to be believed today is going to be the warmest day untill at least Friday, infact there could be several ice days this week looking at their site.

A bit further up the showers are turning wintry inland, doesn't seem to be the case down here though.
