One of the big themes over the last few days is how quickly systems are moving through from the NW

Yup, so (looking at the pressure chart) that should bring the front back down on us perfectly!

well been a great one here. Woke up at 4am to see a covering and scraped off a couple of inches of snow off car first thing. At work in Radlett it was light and stop/start until about 11am when it really kicked in and was very heavy at times and pretty much non stop until about 3.00. Was settling well on the playground after the kids at the school had been out in it playing. Am a happy bunny now and will be happy with whatever we get now.

what can I say......Leemondo meet Hearts in Herts......a match made on netweather friends.gif

It's a little hard not to be a bit downbeat, considering the SE was ment to do the best out of this ongoing cold spell, but it seems the closer we get the chances diminish and we end up with light flurries/sleet/cold rain.

I remain optimistic about the rest of the week, but its looking mostly v cold and dry, anything white and fluffy will be a bonus, but as has been said before, this cold spell is nothing to do with the SSW, that comes into play towards the end of the month.

Chin up everyone, its only the weather smile.png

    they look like streamers lol

They are... Cheshire streamer is one of them. The other looks to be from a shortwave in the Irish Sea.

It really is amazing what difference a few miles can make in events such as these. 6 miles from me there is a few cm's but here in Maldon its soaking wet with just a pither on the grass! Braintree is around 12 miles north of here and it was chucking it down earlier when i passed through, the flakes were massive! The further into north essex i got the snow got heavier with lots settling.

I'm hoping for a better show here tonight once the dp's drop and the precip sinks south again.

ARPEGE evolution and 850's support UKMO-GM almost exactly up to 00z Fri. Colder air somewhat further west compared to GFS.

steve m the undercut scenario as per ecm and ukmo could be pretty goodsmile.png

fax later at 120 may be a gooden

Well the latest BBC Forecast did not look to bad to me, showed the precip wrap around coming SSW And impacting our region around Midnight and clearing the South Coast by 5am.

Said a decent covering in most places by morning but not expecting disruption to travel and roads etc, said maybe more snow over the Downs etc.

I would take that after not even seeing more than 7 snowflakes from this spell so far!

    Tuesday looked dry!

BBC London News quote: "More snow tonight, especially to the North and East of the Capital"
