The reason I wondered if the met office had gone home or don't work evenings is because the met office radar hasn't refreshed since 6pm

I subscribe to NW but met office radar not updated for ages

Yes they've all gone home now, and the cleaning lady has unplugged the radar so she can plug her Henry Vac in. I'm serious too.

Oooh you guys do make me giggle! Feels like being back at school sometimes lol

I do hope nobody has to eat their own face or pay out a billion pounds.

Still a few flakes floating around Colindale and the wind would cut you!!

OK, just got in from work so haven't had chance to read any posts. Driven from Eastbourne to Hailsham. Heavy rain until 2 miles from home when turned to snow. Grass, pavements and side roads all covered.

Very light snow now here after starting at 5.15pm which then get heavy for about an hour and half. Slightly wet snow so alot of slush on the roads etc. Best snow flakes of this spell though!

I think you were lucky to get out that way when you did. ( I went by way of Surrenden this morning and it was completely clear then) Coldean lane impassible, lewes Road completely gridlocked both ways, slip road into the Hollingbury turnoff cars reported sliding back down! Here now we have freezing cold rain/sleet Bevendean.

Edit: This was in response to chionmaniac :-)

Strange, some of the snowflakes are marked "despatch to uckfield". Must be a strong wind involved.

No it's not. Nowhere in our region is seeing that much snow or will see that much snow. At most places to the North of London may see a covering. No need for a warning for that. If this ends up a big snow event and parts of our region see 10cms of snow I will eat my own face.

10cms maybe a touch high (though somewhere on the downs will 100% reach that figure I'm sure) but on the lower end, say 6-8cms, I think thats certainly do able. Here in Guildford we are steadily notching up the total, I'm feeling fairly confident we'll be above 5cms by the end.
