been snowing since about 1215 and a spell of moderate 1420-50 with 1+cm snow lying on all surfaces now, the roads covered over during the moderate snow; T=0.1C and Td=-1.1C; reckon, looking at the radar and surface observations about 2 maybe 3 hours for it to start to turn to rain.

A dry and cloudy start to the day but snow arrived shortly before 1100 and continued until around 1700; some spells of fairly heavy snow during the afternoon with a good deal of drifting in the f6-7 S wind. From 1700 we had light-moderate freezing drizzle followed by intermittent freezing rain; this has put a crust of ice on the snow and stopped the drifting. Thick fog developed around 1600 and has persisted since. 9.5cm of fresh snow

The trees are crackling with ice as the wind moves them.

Snow set in around 10:30 GMT, this turned moderate and continued well in to the afternoon depositing 3.0 cm very wet cover over most surfaces. The snow turned to ice pellets and sleet by around 15:00 GMT, followed by drizzle in the early evening. The temperature fell in the snow to 0.3c, began rising after snow turned to drizzle, now 0.9c.

Cloudy today, a touch of ground frost early last night.

A little sleet early morning soon turned to intermittent light rain and drizzle lasting to early afternoon, just a few spits thereafter. Moderate to fresh SE wind this morning, veered SW this evening. Rather cold, but turning milder this evening.
