seroiusly though, am i missing something?

why is the front moving N/NW? forecast is for it to be coming from the NE down across all of Yorkshire. Is the wind going to change overnight?

I believe this is the area of precipitation that will track over us in the early hours of tomorrow..

That is what the Met Office indicate, anyway.

3am tomorrow

4am

It should reach Sheffield after 6 am if the Met Office projections are to be trusted.

Aaron, thanks very much for that :)

Quite handy to know as I have family going to be going over the snake pass at about 4am tomorrow morning lol to Manchester airport! I said to them they should be ahead of the worst of it if they are lucky and you have suggested the same :)

cheers for your reply

Its like a different world here compared to further inland with moderation from the North Sea keeping the temperature above 5C for most of the time the precipitation arrived. Even now the next area has arrived its still 4.2C with a dewpoint of 3.6C and just cold rain. In fact this is the coldest it has been since 9am this morning!

Even marginal would have been nice here today, but its not even that.

Well, absolutely zero here. The Huddersfield snow shield has done its job again!

staying for the weekend at the tudor house, bell busk near malham. heavy snow, thick outside, poor visibility, could mean interesting drive back to coventry later? The weather radar seems to have this area well targeted!

My cousin is reporting several inches in the Harrogate area, but heavy sleet now so not sure how long it'll last now.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Wednesday and Thursday scattered, mostly light, wintry showers and sunny intervals. Friday frosty start with icy patches, then later in the day risk of persistent snow arriving.

Not bad at all!

BBC radar suggests snow over Barnsley at 9am and 12pm but its going to have to sink south for that to happen.

27mm of rain recorded from this event so far and it will all have been snow above 1000 feet.

Intermittent slushy cover here.
