Where's this second front? The front over South Yorkshire is fizzling away now. We have a few cm's, nothing spectacular

14cm on the wheelie bin and still --0.4C. i cant believe that 3wks ago i was riding the trail in shorts and a t-shirt and i made a comment on here about

how i was glad winters over and we have the sun to look forward too. As usual i called it completely wrong.

I hope it stalls now as its absolutely hammering it down, the flake size has increased a little too.

It isn't mark. It's slowly pepping up. It's not all that black and white. Everyone just look at the north east as the band has filled in all of the north east UK now. Massive shift north

Latest NAE is way better for west yorkshire, I'm now under 20mm accumulated precipitation

13032312_2206.gif

maybe even 25mm

doncaster is same. All that south correction tosh has been opposite haha

I'm just in the slightly darker blue patch underneath, looks like it says 36mm. What does that equate too in snow terms?

For your altitude where you would have a settling ratio of at least 90%, probably about 16" snow blum.gif

Starting to get heavy here, looks like its cleared the Manchester Snow shield and is now intensifying again.

Once again Barnsley appears to be in the "heavy, but with light flakes" camp again. All too common this winter.

So much for the move North & East. Have driven from home to York and the whole area under precipitation according to the radar and not just the light echoes, but not a flake!!!!

Plenty of vehicles heading east with the fronts plastered in frozen pinky snow. At least somewhere has some salt down.

Front stalled over northern England. It's about 50 or so miles further north than was expected isn't it. Proves how tricky the forecast has been. Fine snow falling here with a slight thaw in place too.

So 1mm of rainfall = 10mm of snow roughly? 16" of snow in winter is Epic, in late March its a bit freaky.

Flake size is slowly increasing, the best thing is theres no thawing at all, not even the odd drip.

Yep pretty much although this can change due to marginality.

Snow getting a little heavier here now

Good. They had the cheek to say the other day that we wouldn't mind it pushing further south because we've apparently done well this year? I can only speak for myself, but I'd only had a few CMs all winter. They are always wanting it to push further south for them so stuff them! blum.gif

Worried that the main heavy band is a lot further North than Sheffield.

Smhouston the band is pushing south after it stalling with the second front merging into it making it gradually become organised and heavier tonight :-)
