How much snow is there depth wise? There seems to be next to no reports so far on this thread, it seems the precipitation has been over the NW since late last night so I would of thought there'd be some sizable accumulations.

Most of the posts in this thread have been commenting on the lack of accumulating snow around the region. At my location we have had falling snow most of the night and most of the day but apart from on the grass it's struggled to settle. The ground has been far too wet and only in heavier bursts has it started to stick; only for it to melt when the ppn stops or loses intensity. Quite frustrating really.

Currently have a couple of inches on favoured grassy areas and about a cm or 2 on concrete surfaces, still some melting going on due to the saturated ground underneath.

Current temp. 0.2C

dp -0.9C

Light snow

I just cant see the weather front dying to death in the next few hours.

The frontal system is still very much active.

Can't tell whether its actually snowing as there is so much drifting. Snow blowing off the fields in sheets, running across in a line and spinning like a tornado. So strong in the gusts that it nearly blew me over, and anything not tied down is taking off.

Definitely snowing now Sf although there is a lot of blowing about as well.

No marginality about it now either as my car was covered including a warm bonnet within 20 minutes of parking up.

Still snowing quite heavily here. By end of the night we could see M6 getting grind to a halt again at this rate.

Just over the border in Flintshire we're taking a real hammering now. 25cms of snow and coming down at 2 to 3cms an hour. What's very odd is that there's hardly any wind now.

Just like the last event it seems 5 miles down the road is getting pasted. Quite unbelievable really..

West is best, east is least.

Not sure about that Dodge, we're having the heaviest spell of snow so far today and conditions with the wind blowing the snow are as bad as anything I've seen for a long while.

I still think our part of the region can get something special from this before it finishes

Yes, lets just hope that we are too far east for that shadow to affect us, or in your case too far North.

Yep that's true - its the most active its been all day and maybe could have that setting in feeling, still not amounting to much here yet. Too spoilt from a few 'foot' falls in recent years. lol Edited by dodgeredee

I swear i am going to lose a freezer full of frozen food this time, blizzard conditions, severe gales, snow starting to pile up, lampost is actually wobbling and my lights are starting to flicker.

Snow depths are not amazing but this is the roughest most horrendous conditions I can remember, 2010 had the precipitation but this right now is Brutal!

I've seen situations before where the band stalls, pivots then gains intensity temporarily from W-E (Irish Sea eastwards) before dying out. Wonder if this will be the same.
