I am not sure, would be great if it was but I am forever sceptical after about 3 hours of heavy snow this morning and only 1cm of melting slush 15cm? hmmmm. sorry.gif

Me too, but if it did that would tie in nicely with the Met Office Amber area as well as being extended slightly north and south as well. Just hopecasting I know but this is complex.

Not expecting much from this second band later, that dreaded shadow effect is forecast again!

I think I'll close the book on this one for IMBY, for anyone with altitude it's looking good.

I know! Where's this 40cm coming from? I've had heavier drizzle than this crap.

Local news mentioned a coastal road closure on the IOM.

Thanks.

Fine snow falling here and a slight covering on soil and grass.

There is no obvious clearance to the band of precipitation. There are still echoes to the south of the region.

40cm was never on the cards for low lying areas.

We have 26cm here so far.. so maybe it will hit 40cm here

Fail here. Snowing for hours but ground was sodden when I woke after being bone dry last night. Ah well good effort at least. Still no lasting snow in Ashton hehe.

Getting heavy here, and we are getting it once it clears the Manchester snow shield. In someway surprised you are all disappointed as you must all know Manchester and its surrounds just don't get snow. But be positive this is only the start based on the radar and will be going on for another 24 hours.

This doesn't appear to have added up to being much for the NW region as a whole, seems like N Wales has taken the brunt so far? Are we expecting anything to develop later this afternoon and into this evening?

Quite a few incidents now on the BBC Cumbria travel page relating to the weather. The coast road in the SW of the county is now blocked by snow and other roads affected by panes of glass which have been blown out by the SE'ly gales.
