Well I got fed up sitting inside nursing a sore throat and cold so went off into the Peak partly to do bit recce of entries/exits of parts of the path for 3 weeks time. Too much snow for anything else. The recce was in the Foolow-Little Longstone-Creswell Dales area and the areas close by walls were 3-5ft generally deep in snow, up to 8 ft in piles from tractor shovels and rotary and push ploughs in places and even by Wadshelf cross roads this was the case for those knowing this area. Even main roads were less than two widths in places. A long time since I have seen the High Peak with so much snow over a week after a fall. The B&B owner where I often stop for coffee in Little Longstone said over 1 foot fell and this was supported by a farmer I spoke to in Wardlow who said that some villagers did not go outside for over 48 hours.

Arriving home to find my mean March temperature looks like being 3.2C, this the lowest since December 2010 and the only month since then with a mean below 4C.

so March 2013 is a month to long remember for many of us, temperatures for sure, and for some snow as well.

Sorry, bit off topic here but does anyone know which company Stewart (Glacier Point) went to work for. His long range forecasting was a must watch with a great explanation of how he arrived at his conclusions. I'm not suprised he was snapped up as his forecasts patterns were generally pretty close to the mark and would be interested if he is out there still, forecasting for a online company with access for some form of subscription fee.
