Everywhere I look on the net, indicated temps are around 21°C to 23°C but other indicators at private weather stations and local observations are showing 3° or more higher?

Its probably a combination of the temperatures rising rapidly and the MetOffice reports being an hour out of date, plus the usual situation with many amateur stations exposed to sunshine.

Theres quite a few 24s and 25s around here on wunderground but its really 22C.

There's one station in Leeds at 26C right now, and that is usually within 0.5C of the official Church Fenton station - but the wind there is from the NW compared to the SE around here, so I am inclined to believe it is accurate. This is why relying on stations even just a few miles away is not always a good thing as there can be many local variables that influence the temperature.

23.2c here - seem to find mine is at or slightly below official stations. It sure has no chance of sun hitting it on that side of the courtyard.

Shame we're back too cool cloudy stuff again tomorrow - but at least its been forecasted this time!

Horrible sweaty night for me. Finally nodded off at 3, up for work at 5. Feel like poop. Damn you weather! Oh the joys of a S facing bedroom.

Good, innit? I'm on nights this week (and still up after finishing at 6am). Feel like death and somehow gotta sleep thru' the light and horrendous heat. Had to go to the hospital earlier and can attest to the sheer hideousness of it outside. Being able to handle it is an admirable quality; claiming to enjoy it is a perversion.

27.5C here in my yard in the shade - feeling toasty!

Again cross referenced with all of the local stations, they're all at 26-27C, so it's accurate :)

Another very warm one, a degree or so down on yesterday but the visibility excellent and the sky a deeper blue.

Top temp so far here today is 26.8C

Also the humidity value is quite notable here - just dropped to 29% which is actually my lowest recorded value in nearly 6 years of records.

Edit: 28% now

Can't say I'm particularly a fan- especially when having to do stupid shifts at work. Good luck trying to sleep!

Yes low humidity such a rarity in hot spells in the UK, and no sign of it becoming stickier either while staying very warm/hot and sunny. The humidity here was at 86% at 06.00 under the brief low cloud but dropped quickly once the sun burnt the cloud away by 07.30!

Indeed, still feels pretty warm even sat in the shade here but when out a bit earlier I thought it felt like a drier warmth. I didn't actually check humidity charts or forecasts so didn't realise the humidity would be much lower today.

It dropped to 25% here and at that time the dew point was 4.9c, and I think the temp was showing 26.6c so almost 22c difference.

Currently 27.0c with 28% humidity.

High so far 27.2c

I don't think we'll crack the official 30°C after all today.

27.2C here today, had a brief cloudier interval about an hour ago, crystal clear blue skies again now. I suspect the maximum temperature has now passed, coming in at 27.5C. Not bad! :D
